realme is probably ready to deliver a smartphone with the fastest charging technology soon, surpassing the record currently held by Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer at 210W. The brand announces an event on 5 January to unveil a new fast-charging technology, and it's likely to be at 240W.

Rumour has it that the technology will first debut with realme GT Neo 5. The current realme device with the fastest charging technology is the realme GT Neo 3 at 150W, packing a 4,500mAh battery. It also has another variant that arrived with a larger battery capacity at 5,000mAh but with 80W fast charge support.

The source suggests that the upcoming realme GT Neo 5 could follow the same approach. It's said that the one that supports 240W wired charging would come with a 4,600mAh cell, while the other gets 150W but with a 5,000mAh battery. However, that is not the only difference between the two variants. The former is expected to feature an underclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, while the other would get powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8200 chip.
