smart Malaysia has officially launched the smart #5, a new electric SUV designed for drivers who want more space, more range, and a tougher presence on the road. Under the theme “Style Meets Robustness,” the #5 marks smart’s expansion from compact urban EVs into a more adventure-ready, mid-size SUV segment.
Rugged looks, lounge-like interior
The smart #5 sits on a 2900mm wheelbase, placing it within the D-segment SUV class, while the Premium variant is offered in Meta Black, Cyber Silver, Pulsar Ruby, and Saturn Beige Matte, all paired with an Eclipse Black roof. The BRABUS variant comes in Atom Grey Matte, Meta Black, and Digital White, also matched with an Eclipse Black roof.
Inside, the #5 adopts a luxury-inspired approach with soft-touch Nappa leather, oak wood trim, and a tie-clip styled dashboard. Comfort is enhanced by a 1.7m² panoramic glass roof, an onboard chiller, and double-layered soundproof glass. The interior is designed for maximum practicality, offering three configurable bed modes, 34 storage compartments, a 1530L rear trunk, and a 72L frunk — making it suitable for both daily use and long road trips.
High-tech cabin with ChatGPT-powered LEO
Technology takes centre stage in the smart #5. The cabin features dual 13-inch OLED displays and a 25.6-inch AR head-up display, all powered by the AMD V2000 chipset for smooth performance. The vehicle also integrates LEO, a ChatGPT-powered smart avatar that enhances in-car interactions. Audio quality is elevated with a 20-speaker SENNHEISER system featuring Dolby Atmos, creating an immersive sound environment.
5-Star safety, 100kWh battery, and ultra-fast 800V charging
Safety is a major highlight, with the smart #5 achieving a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating. Its body is built with 82% high-strength steel and offers 42000Nm torsional rigidity, complemented by seven airbags, smart Pilot Assist, Highway Pilot Assist with Stop & Go, and a comprehensive 360° camera system.
The smart #5 introduces a 100kWh battery — the largest ever in a smart model — delivering up to 590km of WLTP-rated range. It is also the first smart EV in Malaysia to feature an 800V fast-charging system, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. With nine drive modes, including five dedicated off-road modes, and an upgraded suspension system, the smart #5 is engineered to handle everything from city commutes to rougher terrain.
Premium ownership, all included
Ownership benefits include long-term warranties on the battery, high-voltage components, the vehicle, and spare parts, along with 24/7 roadside assistance. smart Malaysia is also offering a complimentary Wallbox charger worth RM3200, a V2L adaptor worth RM800, an accessories package valued at RM2000, and three years of free internet data at 3GB per month.
Variants and pricing in Malaysia
The smart #5 Premium is priced at RM199800, while the BRABUS variant comes in at RM249800. These prices are on-the-road without insurance and include SST, valid from 14 November 2025 for the first 300 registered owners.
