Welcome back to another round of the vivo NEX news. This time around from the hype train, we will be taking a closer look at that the pop-up front camera. How does it work? Is it safe from water? What happens if I drop it? Can I push back it if it gets stuck? Is there any warranty? So many questions.

While vivo Malaysia doesn't have the answers right now, we do know this - the pop-up front camera works pretty fast. According to the company, it only takes one second and it retracts automatically when you're done. This is due to a new microdrive system from vivo's laboratory, if that sounds a bit complicated - it is as the mechanism is quite a sophisticated micro-stepping motor. In fact, there is an independent drive IC just for that and the AI might not have anything to do with it.

About the question of if the pop-up camera getting stuck, vivo would like to assure you that the camera can lift continuously 50,000 times without any breakdown. Combining with the NEX stainless steel body, it's able to withstand any strong pulling or twisting force. That sounds pretty assuring, but we think it's still not a good idea to test it regardless.

So that's all about the NEX for now, hopefully they will have a QnA session where we can ask more about the phone (or even better, send it to us and we will just test it ourselves). Until then, stay tuned for more vivo news at TechNave.com.
