Back in April 2022, vivo officially joined the foldable gang with its vivo X Fold. While the device has yet to make its way here, an event in July suggests that vivo Malaysia could bring it here. But could the company bring in the vivo X Fold+ 5G instead?

According to MySmartPrice, the vivo X Fold+ 5G was certified in China by TENAA. The new variant will feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. It will also have the same dual-cell 2300mAh (total 4600mAh) battery and a 50MP main camera. Immediately, you can see that the most notable change is the chipset. Sources also claimed that the charging speed will be improved to 80W.

Besides that, images of the vivo X Fold+ 5G were spotted on China's MIIT website. The new variant doesn't seem that different from its standard counterpart, so it's hard to say if anything has changed. If that's the case, it would make this a sub-variant of the original vivo X Fold instead of and not any kind of upgrade (except the chipset).

As we've mentioned, vivo Malaysia could opt to bring this model here instead of the previous one. After all, it DOES have a better chipset and charging speed. But which would you prefer, this new one or the standard variant? Let us know in the comments on our Facebook, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about this phone.
