vivo has officially launched the Y500 in China, introducing its largest battery ever in a smartphone—an 8200mAh “Blue Ocean” cell designed for extreme endurance and long-term reliability. It's unclear if the phone will come to Malaysia, but here's what we know about the phone so far.

The Tech Specs

On the front, the Y500 sports a 6.77-inch flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3840Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. Under the hood, it runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main lens and a 2MP depth sensor, while the front houses an 8MP selfie shooter. All lenses are reinforced with aircraft-grade aluminium and a raised ring for added durability.

The Y500’s semi–solid-state battery promises up to six years of lifespan and is engineered to perform under extreme temperatures—up to 22 hours of outdoor use at 40°C and 16.7 hours of video playback at -20°C. It supports 90W fast charging and reverse OTG charging, making it ideal for users who need all-day power and flexibility.

Design and Durability

Vivo has equipped the Y500 with IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it can withstand water immersion and high-pressure sprays. It’s also passed a 1.5-meter, 24-hour immersion test and earned a five-star drop-resistance certification. The frame uses Vivo’s new “Diamond Rock” architecture, offering double the compression resistance and 70% better drop protection compared to previous models.
