vivo confirms a pop-up AI-powered front camera for NEX phone

It was only yesterday that the vivo X21 showed up officially in Malaysia, but vivo isn't done with that just yet. On 12 June 2018, vivo NEX will be the "nex" upcoming smartphone and they recently released a teaser poster showcasing the front camera, popping up from the top.

This effectively removes all the rumours about having the front camera at the bottom right, also it seems to confirm that NEX is the mass production model of APEX concept phone that they showcased in MWC 2018. By the way, the pop-up front camera won't be visible all the time, obviously as it will only come out when needed. According to sources, the company is quite proud of the speed being able to pop-up less than a second. We guess an AI Beauty mode is also pre-installed for the masses as well.

Speaking of features, rumours have it that there will be more than one model. One of which carries a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and another sporting a Snapdragon 710 unit. Since there could be two variants, the memory comes in 4GB and 6GB of RAM, while the internal storage "stays" 64GB. Battery capacity is 3320mAh and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.

It's not clear whether an in-display fingerprint sensor is on board too since NEX almost achieved a 100% display (6-inch long), but should they decide to go for a more reasonable budget price range, it could appear behind with the 20MP + 16MP dual rear camera. Oh, the pop-up front camera is 24MP.
