"6G? 5G is not even set in motion yet!" Yes, you're right about that. The last time that we actually wrote about 6G was when Samsung was reportedly looking into 6G in their labs. This time around, vivo happens to be the second player entering the game as they have commenced research and development on 6G technology.

On 22 October 2019, vivo has filed a patent for their 6G logo with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). The vivo 6G trademark will include not only mobile devices but also for computer software, wearable devices, portable headphones, cellular network, and telecommunication services. Of course, 6G will also play a huge role in the future growth of data, AI technologies, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices as well.

Since 5G is not mainstream yet, it will take a few more years for 6G to pop up. According to the 6G White Paper report, “Key Drivers and Research Challenges for 6G Ubiquitous Wireless Intelligence” by 6G Flagship research program, we won't be seeing 6G before 2030. It's also said that the reading speed can reach up to 1TB per second with zero latency.

Currently, vivo is one of the firms participating in the industry's B5G/6G seminar, as well as establishing many partnerships with many universities on 6G technology research. Stay tuned for more vivo news at TechNave.com.
