vivo patent shows clamshell design that folds outwards

With new tech, companies inevitably try out different ways to make it work. We've seen foldable smartphones that fold outwards and have a clamshell design. But have you seen one with both? A new patent from vivo could do just that.

According to LetsGoDigital, vivo's latest patent depicts a device with a foldable display. It wraps around the device on both sides vertically, making it a clamshell phone that folds outwards. Interestingly, the top portion of the display is the one that folds. This results in a screen that extends slightly when unfolded.

As you can see, only a portion is folded

The patent also reveals that vivo plans to have five cameras on the device, with one of them being a periscope camera. There's also a small vertical strip next to the camera module that could be the LED flash, or something completely different. No sign of a front camera, so it could be an under-display camera.

This could be a unique design if it really turns out looking like that. But would you be interested in buying it? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
