Smartphone manufacturers are planning ways to increase the whole display proportions on smartphones and one of them will be reducing the notch sizes for the front selfie cameras and even turn it into an under-screen camera. A few days ago, vivo’s latest patent has been leaked with a detachable camera.

According to the report, vivo applied the patent to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on 24th February this year and got published on September 2, 2021. The detachable module contains a dual camera setup with flash and a touch display on the other side. It uses a magnetic connector to attach to the phone.

There are three modes for the camera,  first mode will be having the detachable camera act as your display on the front and make your phone a full-view display while the camera functions as your rear camera modules. The second mode will be switching the cameras to the front and act as your selfie camera while the third mode will be using it as a mini camera while it is detached and taking pictures or video through the little display.

With that said, there’s still no official confirmation on the tech specs yet or the release date, so do take this with a pinch of salt. But who knows, it might be officially out sooner than we expected it to be. So stay tuned for more tech news.
