Every Chinese New Year, or any festive season in Malaysia, we see new videos or short films about family, tradition, and more. Most of these are typically captured on proper video cameras, but many creators have been using smartphones for their creative work. This CNY, there's one shot on the vivo X300 Pro.
Premiere of "Unsaid, Still Felt"
On 13 February 2026, vivo Malaysia premiered a short film for Chinese New Year titled "Unsaid, Still Felt". As mentioned, it's a film captured using a vivo X300 Pro, a high-end camera phone launched last year. This isn't the first time we've seen films captured on smartphones. In fact, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh is set to showcase one on 20 February 2026.
The important point here is that smartphones, at least high-end camera phones, are now more than capable of capturing high-quality films. vivo's CNY short film is intended to showcase how a flagship smartphone's imaging capabilities can deliver cinematic storytelling without bulky film production equipment.
According to vivo, "Unsaid, Still Felt" was captured using a compact mobile setup. This provided the production team with more flexibility on the recording set. Thanks to high-end recording features like 4K 120fps 10-bit Log recording and a ZEISS Gimbal-Grade main camera (50MP), the producers were able to film a family-themed CNY short film starring Jordan Voon Sow-Peng and Alvin Zhang Xiao Zi (Teo Khai Ming).
