While Sony's E-mount system works quite well with their Sony Alpha NEX-3 and NEX-5 mirrorless cameras, it doesn't work very well with full frame cameras due to short flange-back distance, which is why most photogs don't use it for that form factor. This may change as reports indicate Sony may release 2 full-frame mirrorless digital cameras with E-mounts that may be called the Sony Alpha A7 and Sony Alpha A7R. Tech specs and features for the A7 include a 24MP camera sensor, on-sensor phase-detection AF and an anti-aliasing filter. The higher-end A7R ups it to a 36MP camera sensor but doesn't pack in the other features of the on-sensor phase-detection AF and anti-aliasing filter. While they don't do in-body, sensor-shift image stabilization, they are weather-sealed and offer eye-tracking AF, focus peaking, WiFi and NFC connectivity. Since they are about medium sized, you can use them with a vertical grip and they also have tiltable LCD monitors with built-in high resolution OLED electronic viewfinders. The A7 may be priced at $1698 (RM5397) for just the body along with a $1998 (RM6350) price tag for an additional 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. The A7R on the other hand may cost $2198 (RM6986) for just the body. No Malaysia release dates for now so stay tuned for more information.

LG's take on the curved smartphone will most likely be called the LG G Flex with a number of images recently leaking. These renders show a similar concave surface but rather than side to side it is curved concave from top to bottom, which we must say certainly feels more natural than the previously curved smartphone. According to rumours the LG G Flex screen will measure 6 inches but there are no other tech specs and features available. According to previous reports, the Malaysia release date for the LG G Flex is expected from November 2013 but there are no details on specific dates or pricing just yet.

After months of leaks, rumours and rather vague ads, HTC have officially announced the HTC One Max phablet. Featuring the same unibody design as the HTC One the phablet adds another inch or so for a 5.9-inch screen with full HD 1080p resolution. While the smartphone is significantly larger than the HTC One, it maintains the overall aluminum metal chassis design as the original but uses a plastic band rather than the metal band in the middle of the original. Besides the screen, the most notable features of the HTC One Max include the rear fingerprint scanner (which is the swipe kind rather than just touch), expandable microSD support and a removable backplate. Other tech specs for the HTC One Max include:
- 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
- Adreno 320 graphics
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB / 32GB storage + up to 64GB microSD
- 5.9-inch Super LCD 3 display (1080 x 1920 pixel resolution)
- 4MP UltraPixel rear camera (autofocus, LED flash, 1080p@30fps video recording, no OIS) + 2.1MP front camera
- Supports LTE (Asia version) + 3G + BoomSound dual front stereo speakers
- 164.5mm x 82.5mm x 10.3mm | 217g
- 3300 mAh battery (Not removable)
- Android 4.3 + Sense 5.5

As we near the end of Q3 for 2013, rumours about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 are starting to pick up. While we've already heard rumours of it using new ISOCELL technology camera modules and that it may have a metal chassis, there haven't been many rumours about what processor the smartphone may use. Reports from Korean media say that it will use a Samsung Exynos 6 processor with tech specs and features that include the ARM big.LITTLE architecture, 64-bit processing, a 14nm fabrication process and much better energy efficiency. According to these reports, the processor will use ARM Cortex A53 and A57 cores but it didn't mention if it would have all cores active at the same time. So far, there aren't any new Qualcomm Snapdragon processors asides from the Snapdragon 800 which is what could be used in most of the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones considering that the yield for Exynos processors haven't been very good. The jump to 14nm from the current 28nm would be quite significant so take this rumour with a pinch of salt. Like all rumours of this type, no Malaysia release dates or pricing was available but we will keep you updated as soon as possible.

While we've known that the Sony Xperia Z1f or the mini version of the Sony Xperia Z1 would most probably arrive, we've still not confirmed whether or not it is just a smaller version with the same tech specs and hardware (asides from the battery and screen size of course) or is it just another cut-down mini version? Recent AnTuTu benchmarks have appeared showing that it could well be the former as the Z1f gets a score of 34376 compared to the 30838 of the Sony Xperia Z1. This is partly because the screen is smaller and the GPU can do more. Check out the benchmark score in the video below. Tech specs for the Z1f are so far confirmed the same as the Z1 including:
- 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset
- Adreno 330 graphics
- 4.3-inch display (720p)
- 2GB RAM
- 20.7MP camera

While the previous Samsung Galaxy Note 3 video ad didn't really help sell the phablet with it's rather weird puppetry, Samsung have come out with another promotional video that shows off the features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 along with some mention of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, this time through a stop-motion pop-up book. We think that it is quite creative and helps highlight features like Air Command, the new S Pen, and all of the Air Command functions such as Scrapbook and S Finder. Check out the video for yourself in the article.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 continues to hold the largest megapixel camera sensor in the market and is probably the leader in the cameraphone tech spec race. It is likely to hold that position for some time but as due from such a cameraphone, the initial price was quite high at a pocket burning amount of RM2499. Granted, it comes with an RM300 camera grip with built-in battery but that price is rather high for most people in Malaysia. If you've been wanting the Nokia Lumia 1020, then rejoice because Celcom are now offering it from RM1638 provided you sign up for a Celcom postpaid plan. The deal involves the Celcom First and mPro Plus plans under 12, 18 and 24 month contracts. For more details be sure to check out the links and the table in the article.

It appears that while many are still in search of the "Internet of things" or literally the ability to link everyday items to the Internet easily this ability has been linked to the upcoming Apple iWatch smartwatch. This is by far one of the more outlandish rumours, mainly because Apple isn't very well known in home automation. The rumour comes courtesy of parts suppliers who say that the Apple iWatch could be used as the main remote control for home automation. While we certainly don't see an Apple iFridge or iBlender in the horizon, it could just as easily be a general purpose Bluetooth or WiFi enabled power switch which would connect to the iWatch or just related to Apple iPod sound systems and the like. However, this begs the questions, "Why the iWatch? Why not the iPhone, iPod touch or other Apple products?" As always, take this rumour with a pinch of salt, and we will keep you updated as to any new developments. As usual of a rumour involving a device expected to arrive many months down the line, there were no tech specs, features, Malaysia release dates or pricing details just yet.

One of the Nokia products supposedly set to be revealed at the Nokia World event made an early leaked appearance when what appears to be pics of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet appeared. Coming from evleaks, the Windows RT based tablet looks a lot like an enlarged Lumia smartphone, complete with colourful polycarbonate backside and a glass covered screen. According to rumours, the tablet will be coming in black, cyan, red and white, with the two images confirming at least two of these colours (why no yellow?). The tablet appears in cyan and red and looks quite nice, complete with what appears to be a Windows capacitive button at the bottom. Other tech specs for the tablet include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and processor, a 10.1 display with full HD 1080p and support for LTE connectivity. No Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet but we'll likely find out these details after the Nokia World event said to be happening in Abu Dhabi on 22 October 2013.
