Barely a few days after the announcement from Apple and all of the major telcos in Malaysia have reacted accordingly. Both Maxis and DiGi have opened up registration of interest sites so if you're interested in getting either the Apple iPhone 5S or Apple iPhone 5C under these telcos do head out to the Maxis Apple iPhone 5S and 5C Registration of Interest site or the DiGi Apple iPhone 5S and 5C Registration of Interest site. Celcom initially released a teaser site, saying that the Apple iPhone 5S and 5C are coming soon to Celcom but have since changed this to a similar Apple iPhone 5S and Apple iPhone 5C Registration of Interest site as well. We expect other telcos and retailers to do the same soon so stay tuned as we keep you posted as to any new developments.

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 certainly helped raise Samsung's profits, they may be looking to jump the gun even earlier for the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone with a reveal in January 2014 and eventual release in February 2014. Original estimates had the S5 Malaysia release date set for March which was the period when the Samsung Galaxy S4 was released in 2013. Tech specs for the S5 so far could include a 64-bit processor, 3GB of RAM and a 13MP or 16MP camera module with better low-light and anti-shake (optical image stabilization) than before. The previously announced Samsung ISOCELL image sensor is also expected to be used inside the S5. As always, take these rumours with a pinch of salt as Samsung has yet to confirm any Malaysia release date or pricing for the S5 just yet.

Apple has just announced the second phase of it's iPhone roll-out and Malaysia is on the list. With this, Apple has officially confirmed that the Apple iPhone 5S and Apple iPhone 5C will be launched in Malaysia on 1 November 2013. While the announcement covers the Malaysia release date, it doesn't include pricing, so we still don't know the official price of either smartphone. In this case we're happy to be wrong with our initial release date estimates of December 2013 but prices are likely to be a bit higher this time around due to the weaker Ringgit and a currency exchange between US Dollars and the Ringgit. We expect that on the launch date of 1 November 2013, all the major telcos will release their Apple iPhone 5C or 5S bundles as well but it will also likely be made available at other local retail sellers. Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted as to any new development.

While it is currently the most feature-filled smartwatch from a big company on the market, the Samsung Galaxy Gearis still far from being the smartwatch that everyone wants. However, it turns out that this could be partly due to the limitations that Samsung have put on it, as the guys from Ars Technica have hacked the smartwatch to run Android 4.2.2 and even play a game of Candy Crush. Utilizing a technique called side-loading through ADB and USB debugging enabled, they not only loaded some full apps, they even watched some videos on the tiny 1.6-inch screen. However, since the tech specs of the Galaxy Gear just consist of an 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB storage and no WiFi, what you can do or install on the smartwatch is still very limited.

Nikon has officially announced the D610 DSLR camera. The D610 builds upon the full-frame design of the earlier released Nikon D600 which while a good DSLR, had some notable issues with dust accumulation near the sensor. While the D610 seems almost the same as the D600, it does bring a new 3fps Quiet Continuous shooting mode and maximum burst speed of 6 frames per second to the market. While the D610 does seem like a replacement, the D600 is still being sold so it could just be a minor revamp instead. Targeting the premium crowd the Nikon D610 is available for $1999.95 (RM6407) for the body alone and $2599.95 (RM8330) for the body and an AF-S Nikkor 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR lens. Adding up the price to $3049.95 (RM9772) offers the AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens, a 32GB Class 10 memory card and a laptop bag. Going all the way to $3249.95 (RM10412) will get you the body, both the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR and AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED lens, a WU-1b wireless mobile adapter, DSLR tablet bag and 32GB Class 10 memory card.

The Samsung Galaxy Round, or the world's first commercial curved screen smartphone, has been announced by SK Telecom via Samsung Tomorrow. Unlike earlier rumours which suggested that it may be a side to side model like the one presented at CES 2013, the Samsung Galaxy Round sports a concave screen or a screen that curves inwards. Like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Round also has an artificial leather like backside, right down to the stitching. According to SK Telecom, they will officially launch the Samsung Galaxy Round tomorrow (10 October 2013). Tech specs and features for the Samsung Galaxy Round include a 7.9mm profile, 154g weight and a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen featuring full HD 1080p playback. Other tech specs and features include LTE-A and a 2800 mAh battery with pricing around $1000 (RM3200). The phone apparently turns on when you press and roll it and turns off when you release it and it rolls back, but you can see this for yourself in the video in this article.
