Based on an official statement by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysia will go under movement controls or restrictions from 18 March until 31 March 2020 due to COVID-19. This is largely due to the rise in numbers of cases in the past few weeks globally and the recent mass gatherings locally.

In order to pull the scam off, some individuals in the group will act as agents who will seek out selected individuals and promise them up to RM300 if they were to sign up.
