After making the Google Glass wearable computer a reality, Google are currently considering giving Motorola the responsibility of developing the next generation of Google Glass models. This comes after a comment by Dennis Woodside, Motorola CEO who said that it could become "an opportunity" for the company. Using their experience in the smartphone industry, Motorola would provide better features and design for the future Google Glass devices, resulting in a more affordable consumer device later in 2013. Granted, Motorola certainly have an impressive track record behind them which not only includes the invention of the Walkie-Talkie and first mobile phone but they also hold many patents which are used by almost all smartphones and mobile phones today. Google Glass on the other hand already has 8000 users acting as beta testers along with another 1500 developers making third-party apps for the device.

We've seen any number of leaked Apple iPhone 5C back housing videos, which is the rumoured low-cost Apple iPhone otherwise known as the Apple iPhone Lite. However, most of them have been just with the plastic backplate or casing. A new video of the Apple iPhone 5C has made an appearance on Youku, China's version of Youtube, this time with the front panel as well. Placed side by side with the Apple iPhone 5, the video shows that the front panel may also be mostly plastic while the bottom part looks a lot like the Apple iPod Touch. So far no news on tech specs but many are speculating that it may be a cut down version of the Apple iPhone 5. No news on pricing or availability in Malaysia just yet but it is expected it to be much lower priced than the normal Apple iPhone smartphones and is aimed at students and emerging markets. Check out the video for yourself.

For quite some time now we've been watching renders of "the most powerful BlackBerry device ever" and seen the numerous spec leaks of what we've all come to know as the BlackBerry Aristo A10. However, new rumours are about that it may not actually be called that in the end as so far BlackBerry only have two product lines under the names of 'Q' for the devices with physical QWERTY keyboards and 'Z' for those with touch screens. Rather than be called the A10, which designates it as a completely different product some industry watchers are expecting it to be called the BlackBerry Z30. For some, this makes more sense as the Aristo is a larger touch screen device in the same line as theBlackBerry Z10. However, this still doesn't explain why it would be Z30 and not Z20 as there is still no Z20 device just yet.

While there are waterproofed smartphones, most smartphones don't perform very well when splashed or dropped into water or other liquids. However, people get careless and there are now just as many of us bringing our smartphones into the bathroom with us for some light reading or media consumption. While taking your smartphone apart and drying it out may result in a working smartphone the next day other solutions like shaking it about or using a hair dryer (or worse) to evaporate the water may end up being the cause of permanent damage rather than the water itself. The Infographic below shows some facts, solutions and tips when dealing with smartphones and water damage.

Samsung recently trademarked 7 new names under the USPTO (United States Patents and Trademarks Office) including Samsung Micro, Mobile Samsung 5G, Samsung Fit, Samsung Micro, Samsung Expo, Samsung Go, Samsung Pro and the S MUSICIAN. Quite obviously, the trademarks are for different things as the Mobile Samsung 5G indicates the 5G network that the company was said to have been working on (and supposedly already completed). The Samsung Expo could indicate a yearly event of some sort while the Samsung Micro, Go, Fit and Pro all sound like device names, perhaps for smartphones, fitness devices, tablets and other similar things. The S MUSICIAN on the other hand sounds like another 'S' feature ready to come out for Samsung's already extensive list of 'S' features, perhaps a ringtone maker for their upcoming smartphones. What do you think these names could be?
