As the tech world marches on to thinner and lighter devices, LG has revealed that they'll probably be the first in line. Introducing their 2.2mm thin LCD panels for smartphones, the 5.2-inch panel on display was not only about as thin as cardboard but sported the ability to display Full HD 1080p resolutions. The new LCD panel uses Advanced One-Glass-Solution (OGS) to create a better touchscreen experience. Crafted using dual flexible printed circuits placed between the panel the number of lines on the panel has been reduced by 30%.

Apart from it's smartphone range, LG Malaysia also have a rather interesting NFC photo printer in the form of the LG Pocket Photo. Filled with pre-processed ZINK 2.0 photo paper, the palm sized accessory can print standard name card sized photos. Since the printer does not use any actual ink it can be as thin and light as possible. To print, all you need to do is share the photo you want to print via NFC on your smartphone and tap the printer for it to transfer. It can also transfer via Bluetooth.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 has been officially announced. After so many, many leaked images and sample shots, we finally get some official tech specs for what seems to be one of the most powerful cameraphones around. The Nokia Lumia 1020 specs include:
- 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB storage
- 4.5-inch ClearBlack PureMotion HD+ AMOLED display (Gorilla 3 Glass, 1280 x 768)
- 2000 mAh battery
- Supports wireless charging with snap-on cover
- 41MP rear camera (BSI Sensor, 2nd gen OIS, 6-lens ZEISS optics, Xenon flash, LED flash) + 1.2MP front camera (wide angle)

In a posting for their credit card promotions, Hong Leong Bank Malaysia had the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 listed at discounted prices. What was more interesting was that it also listed the retail price for both, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini going for RM1499 while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 went for a retail price of RM1099.

Maxis Malaysia is currently offering the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 LTE version for RM899 under its TalkMore48 plan and TalkMore78 plan with an additional Maxis Mobile Internet package. The smartphone appears to be the 4G LTE version and you will have to pay an advance payment of RM500 worth of rebates plus 1 month subscription. Celcom and Mobiroo are partnering up to offer Celcom subscribers who are using Android, the ability to download unlimited amounts of paid Android apps to their Android devices (smartphone or tablet) for just RM9.90 per month. This price has been lowered from the standard RM18.80 per month for the initial introduction period. According to Mobiroo, they currently have 750 paid Android apps available for download which you can then share between two devices from a single account. The monthly fee is charged to subscribers monthly postpaid bill or prepaid account.

In a move that doesn't surprise anyone, TSMC and GlobalFoundries, two of the world's leading semiconductor foundries (they make chips) are looking to begin development on a 20nm chip for next generation ARM based mobile processors. The advantage of doing so includes:
- 30% faster clock speed
- 1.9 times better density
- 25% less power consumption

Apple really makes all kinds of patents, but some just seem to fit with what they're doing at the time like this patent describing a design for flexible batteries. The patent itself was filed in December 2011 but it covers the design of a flexible battery pack which allows the battery to be shaped to fit a form factor of an electronic device. Apart from being perfectly suited for Apple's upcoming iWatch, the isolated cell design allows it to be more reliable in that in case one of the cells fail the other cells will not fail together. While it seems to fit with the iWatch, this flexible battery design could just as well be used in any of Apple's other devices.

There have been a lot of rumours about the Samsung Galaxy Note III. Some have said that it would come with a 5.7-inch screen, while others have said 6-inches. Others more have said that it would have an unbreakable / flexible display. In a recent rumour, perhaps it could be that all of the above are correct in that there may be more than one version coming out for the Samsung Galaxy Note III. According to rumours there may actually be 4 such versions which include:
- Version 1 - Premium materials (carbon fiber, etc.), 13MP camera, unbreakable AMOLED screen, limited edition
- Version 2 - Plastic body, 13MP camera, normal AMOLED display
- Version 3 - Plastic body, 13MP camera, LCD Screen
- Version 4 - Plastic body, 8MP camera, LCD screen

Reports published recently have shown signs that the next versions of the Apple iPad (in this case Apple iPad 5) and Apple iPad mini (Apple iPad mini 2) may be coming soon. As usual the report comes from the parts and supply chain and indicates that the new 9.7-inch Apple iPad may be introduced in September. Parts suppliers are ready for production with no expected changes to existing specs. However, this isn't what is being said about the next Apple iPad mini.
