Even today, Wireless Charging doesn't actually involve wireless transfer of charge. It requires physical contact of the wireless compatible rear charging cover and a charging plate to work. However, Microsoft claims that it has developed a true wireless charging technology. The new mobile charging project is called AutoCharge and requires no charging cables or pads. This new technology uses image recognition and solar charging to find a smartphone and charge it automatically, without any physical contact. Identifying the smartphone doesn't take much time and Microsoft claims that its light charger can detect a phone and start charging in just 0.3 seconds. The company used cameras to detect a device on a flat surface and check the level of charging. Once, the charger detected that the device needs charge; it will then fire off beams carrying charge towards the device. Microsoft developed a special indoor solar charging mechanism to make wireless charging a reality. The technology uses a straight beam of concentrated light which is pointed at the device to be charged. The low scatter makes sure that the charge is carried to the phone from the charger. Unfortunately, the device requires an integrated solar charging cover for this technology to work and it would take some time before this technology can be incorporated into everyday devices.

The Huawei Honor X2 (or the MediaPad X2 as they call it here in Malaysia) was reportedly leaked this Wednesday. Thanks to the leak, we now know the phone's design, price as well as the specs. The source claims that the phone will come with a metal chassis (picture added above), probably aluminum. The specs will be top notch just like the MediaPad X1. The Honor X2 is said to come with an octa-core Kirin 925 processor with 3GB RAM onboard. There will be a 7-inch display sporting a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Other tech specs of the device have not yet been revealed but the price tag is expected to be around 1999 Yuan (RM1152). On a related note, the upcoming Huawei P8 flagship is reportedly launching in April this year. It was said earlier that the phone would see the light of the day at MWC 2015. Given that it is the successor to the existing Ascend P7, the device will probably feature high-end tech specs. The phone will sport a Kirin 930 chipset along with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 5.2-inch 1080p display and a fingerprint sensor. Huawei could sell the device for an approximate price tag of $483 (RM1739) but there are no Malaysia pricing details or release dates just yet.

HTC's upcoming flagship device, the HTC One M9 has been making the rumor rounds for quite some time now. The device was recently spotted alongside the old HTC One M8 model and the differences between the two (although slight) were carefully marked in the picture. Although the device is probably a prototype model, its looks like it is in the final stages of design. One of the significant differences between the two models is the size of the bezels at the bottom and the sides of the display. The bottom HTC logo is now thinner and smaller making that area more compact than before. On both the sides of the screen, the bezels have been reduced greatly. So the alleged HTC One M9 looks much smaller and compact than the existing flagship. According to the picture, it looks like the device will retain the 5-inch display, which contradicts earlier rumors that said it will have a 5.5-inch 2K display. There may also be a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB RAM onboard. At the back, the phone is said to feature a 20.7MP camera and up front, there could be a 13MP selfie shooter just like the HTC Desire Eye. As for software, the phone will probably come with Android 5.0.1 with Sense 7.0 UI on top but as always, do take this leak with a pinch of salt.

HP unveiled three new tablets this Tuesday. The company has been making tablets for the past few years and looks to expand its lineup with the new HP Pro Slate 12, Pro Slate 8 and the Pro Slate 10 EEmodels. All the three models run on Google's Android platform. The Pro Slate 12, like the name suggests is the largest device of the three. It comes with a large 12.3-inch display with a disappointing resolution of 1600 x 1200. This translates to pixel density of just 163 ppi which is very low as compared to today's standards. The next model is the HP Pro Slate 8 which features an 8-inch screen. Interestingly, the resolution on this model is better than the former – 2048 x 1536 pixels, which comes to around 324 ppi. Both the models run on the same Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM inside. Finally, the third model of the lot is the new HP Pro Slate 10 EE. It comes with modest tech specs like an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB RAM and a 10-inch display featuring a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
