It seems that Huawei may be preparing something even more premium than their Ascend P7 smartphone as images have leaked of an all-metal Huawei smartphone. The shiny metal back panel clearly shows the Huawei logo and an opening under the camera which appears to be for a fingerprint scanner or rear control of some sort. While this metal mystery Huawei smartphone is still unnamed, tech specs look to be very impressive as it may use the company's octa-core Kirin 920 processor, which has shown performance on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 and 805. It will also feature an ARM MAli T628 GPU, dual-channel DDR3 800MHz RAM memory, LTE connectivity and a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution screen along with a 32MP camera sensor. No news yet on Malaysia release dates or pricing but we expect it to come around September 2014 for $600 (RM1965) or so.

The 5-inch display Nokia Lumia 930 has recently been officially announced. Featuring a metallic band somewhat like the Lumia Icon, the smartphone features a 20MP PureView camera and the aforementioned 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. The camera itself deserves quite some mention as it has a large 1/2.5" image sensor, f/2.4 aperture and 2-stage shutter key auto-focus (which sounds awesome). Other notable camera features include ZEISS lens, 2x hires zoom and OIS or optical image stabilization. Other Nokia Lumia 930 tech specs include:
- 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB storage (no microSD support but 7GB OneDrive)
- 5-inch ClearBlack OLED display (Super Sensitivie Touch, 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution)
- 20MP rear camera (PureView, ZEISS lens, dual LED Flash)
- features stereo sound recording (HAAC mic) directional sound and Qi wireless charging

The Motorola Moto G Forte has been officially announced at Motorola Mexico. Unfortunately, it isn't the more rugged, waterproof and dustproof Moto G we were hoping for. Instead, it is just a standard Moto G that comes with a Motorola Grip Shell casing. The Grip Shell casing is a rubberized casing which offers a bit more protection for shock, but won't stop water or dust from damaging your Moto G (and your screen will still crack if it falls the wrong way). As expected, tech specs remain the same with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 4.5-inch display but the Motorola Moto G Forte looks to be just for the Latin America market for now.

While the Motorola Moto G certainly broke a number of records with it's great value tech specs and pricing, rumours are spreading that we could soon see another Moto G coming soon. Going by the name of the Motorola Moto G Forte, the smartphone will likely retain the same tech specs but offer a more rugged and waterproof device. The source comes from @evleaks which means that this could be a fairly accurate but do take it with a pinch of salt. Motorola have made waterproof phones before so they should have some experience with it.

While we probably will never see this metal backed Samsung ATIV SE here in Malaysia, it is interesting to hear about it. While details have been hard to come by asides from a press render from @evleaks and that it may have a 5-inch full HD 1080p display, some news has come out about other tech specs. This includes that it will likely be following a higher-end Samsung Galaxy S4 version. This sounds a lot like the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE+ which includes a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and 13MP rear camera along with Windows Phone. Despite it being an older Galaxy S4, These tech specs still make this an up-to-date smartphone though with a release date expected in April 2014. Don't expect any Malaysia release dates or pricing though, as this is probably tied to Verizon (US) only.

The rumour mill continues on as more details about the Apple iPhone 6 crop up, this time in the form of schematics, sketches and even some renders from said sketch. The schematics in particular seem to confirm a 4.7-inch version and a 5.7-inch version, right down to the exact measurements. The 4.7-inch version will have 137 x 66 x 7mm measurements while the 5.7-inch version will go for 157 x 77 x 6.7mm. Apart from the schematics, sketches of the Apple iPhone 6 have also appeared, which designer Martin Hajek promptly turned into renders. None of the images, be it the schematics or sketches have been confirmed though so do take this with a good piece of salt. No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing as well but these are still very early days so stay tuned for more updates.

On cue for 1 April 2014, Samsung has announced the Samsung Fingers Smartglove which features a flexible 3-inch UHD Emo-LED display on the palm. The claimed tech specs also include a hidden 16MP camera with most of the controls being done through gestures. The smart glove charges through solar tech, which could be on the back of the hand. There are also various types in the works with the iron spike covered Samsung Fingers Tough and the lady-like Samsung Fingers Class. Quite obviously, this is an April Fools joke as all the claimed tech specs are impossible to implement at this time. It is very good to know that Samsung have a good sense of humour and can at least laugh at themselves so that we can laugh along with them.

Going for a pre-order of the just locally released Samsung Galaxy S5, DiGi are now offering the smartphone from RM1199 on pre-order. Retailing at RM2399, the smartphone does cost quite a bit, so a discount past 50% is quite welcome, especially if you're planning to use a DG SmartPlan. Balancing out the lower price is the fact that you are limited to a 24 months contract but you'll still get the smartphone from 11 April 2014. The DiGi pre-order will end on 10 April 2014 and for some added value DiGi are also offering 9GB of data free for the 3 months after 19 April 2014. For more details, check out the table and links in this article.

With the Samsung Galaxy S5 well and launched here in Malaysia, Maxis is one of the first of the major telcos to come out with pre-order bundles for the smartphone. You can now get the Galaxy S5 from RM1399 (retail pricing is at RM2399) once you sign up for a TalkMore or SurfMore postpaid plan. Maxis are offering both 12 months and 24 months contracts which should be great for those who don't like to be tied to a contract for too long. However, there is one downside, the preorder is only for those subscribing to get a new number. Existing Maxis customers will have to wait a while longer with the next pre-order expected on 3 April 2014 (which isn't all that long actually). Check out the details of the bundle deals in the table and links in this article.
