The HTC One Max is the much larger brother of the award-winning HTC One smartphone, which was one of the first Android smartphones to pull off an awesome looking metallic body design. When the HTC One first came out, it was simply awesome and got very good reviews from practically everyone in the tech industry. Now, the HTC One Max offers you the same HTC One-like design in a larger 5.9-inch display phablet form factor but at a much higher retail price of RM2499. The Apple iPad Air is the 5th generation tablet in Apple's leading 9.7-inch display tablet range. As the latest in the bunch it packs in the latest and probably most powerful mobile chipset and processor in the Apple stable along with a much improved, thinner and lighter profile. Recently, it came to light that Samsung and other mobile manufacturers were cheating current mobile benchmarks by upping processor performance each time these benchmarks were run on their devices. While this isn't something new in the tech industry, quite a lot of people were shocked, declared they never use benchmarks anyhow and made a general fuss about the whole issue. A startup called GameBench who have direct working experience with both ARM and MediaTek recently made an "uncheatable" benchmark for mobile gaming. The beta version of this GameBenchbenchmark was then run on the Samsung Galaxy S4 (the Snapdragon 600 version) and HTC One, two of the most contested smartphone models of last year (and supposed to have cheated previously). Turns out that the performance of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is still better than the HTC One (and closer to the original "cheating" scores than previously thought of). When Apple first came out with the Apple iPad mini we loved it's better design as the slimmer bezels and narrower look made it awesome to handle. It isn't even the end of the year yet and already many of us are predicting features for the next smartphones and devices that haven't even been announced yet. This includes the Samsung Galaxy S5 which already has many rumours saying that it could have a new 64-bit Exynos processor and 4GB of RAM along with a metal chassis. When the Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet first appeared, all it had going for it seemed to be an Exynos 5 Octa chipset with a 2K (2560 x 1600 pixel) display. Recently, what appears to be benchmarks of the device under a slightly different model name (the SM-P905V instead of the previous SM-P905) it is also packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and processor. This was proven when the device got an AnTuTu score of 35901 which is so far, the realm of Snapdragon 800 powered devices. In a comparison between the Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) which uses the Exynos 5420 chipset the rumoured Note 12.2 showed marked differences in performance, again proving that it isn't using Exynos 5 hardware. We're quite impressed with the overall AnTuTu score of 35901 though, as it means there probably won't be any lag despite the onboard 2K display. No news on pricing or Malaysia release dates but we'll keep you posted.

Apple has recently revealed the latest versions of their tablets, the Apple iPad Air (Apple iPad 5) and Apple iPad mini with Retina Display (Apple iPad mini 2). Offering new 64-bit A7 processors, improved design and tech specs and the aforementioned Retina Display for both tablets it now makes for an interesting choice of which Apple tablet to choose. Looking to follow in the footsteps of other incremental smartphone upgrades, Huawei have since released the Huawei Ascend P6S which is a version of the Huawei Ascend P6 smartphone that uses Huawei's new and improved quad-core K3V2+ processor. The new processor features ARM Cortex A9 cores along with a faster Mali-450 GPU. The Huawei Ascend P6S managed to a get an AnTuTu score of 22270 which is quite impressive but nowhere near what the top Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 smartphones can achieve. While the processor is said to be running at 1.6GHz, Huawei have said that the new H3V2+ processor should help decrease energy consumption down to 50% while delivering 50% to 80% better performance. No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet though.
