Take the recently reviewed BlackBerry Style, convert it to a candybar style body by axing the clamshell with front LCD screen, and you have the BlackBerry Bold 9780. Just like the BlackBerry Style, the Bold 9780 sports the latest BlackBerry 6 OS, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, and full QWERTY keyboard. BlackBerry 6 has brought many improvements to RIM's latest lineup of handsets, and the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is no different from the latest crop of speed demons.
BlackBerry Bold 9780 - Design & Build:The BlackBerry Bold 9780 sports all the design flaws that we found with the 9700, like the tacky faux-leather back, the 3.5mm audio port on the side of the phone rather than the top, and the side key that’s too hard to trigger.
On the plus side, it also means a sturdy build – the Bold line can take a seriously clattering, unlike many massive glass touchscreen smartphones – an optical trackpad that never fails, and a sharp 480×360 resolution screen that’s vastly more visible than any high end touchscreen phone outdoors.[ Read More ] -

LG’s styling stretches from businesslike to glitzy with a gloss edge and shiny metal back. LG has a long design heritage that oozes class, since the launch of the original Chocolate phone. Here, the LG Optimus 7 is handsome.
LG Optimus 7 - Design & Build:
Solid and reassuringly weighty. The only non-glossy section is where the three WP7 icons sit just below the screen on the front. This wide button-area is the only design disappointment on the Optimus 7. All three icons (Back, Windows and Search) are pressable instead of being the touch-sensitive lights HTC favours. This is fine, but the icons themselves are slightly raised which means that the middle Windows button has a rough-edged feel which just isn’t very pleasing.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab runs Android 2.2 and is clearly fashioned to be an iPad rival but in a smaller form factor. Measuring 190 x 120 x 12mm, compared to the Apple tablet’s 243 x 190 x 13mm dimensions, it’s about three quarters the size of an iPad. But the obvious trade-off is the 7in screen compared to 10in from Apple.

The HTC HD7 is one of the best from the first batch of Windows Phone 7 smartphones and it features a large 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen LCD display. The HD7 feels a bit heavier but some people would prefer its square form factor and metal-like look.
HTC HD7 - Hardware:
The HD7′s hardware is strikingly similar to that of the HTC Desire HD we reviewed earlier. Dominating the phone is a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen, with minimal bezel and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash on the back. Inside is a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 chip, the same as all the other first-wave Windows Phone 7 devices, paired with 576MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM and 16GB of flash storage (courtesy of an internal microSD card not intended for user-replacement). Again, there’s no user-expandable storage option.[ Read More ] -

Before Nokia announced that it was throwing in the towel on its own smartphone OS efforts and instead putting its faith in Microsoft’s fledging Window Phone 7 platform, HTC was perhaps Microsoft’s best buddy when it came to Windows Phone hardware. Along with the Trophy and HD7, the Mozart was one of three handsets that HTC introduced launch of Windows Phone 7.
HTC 7 Mozart - Hardware:The HTC 7 Mozart, then, takes its core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor, and pairs it with 8GB of flash storage (there’s no microSD card slot, remember), 512MB of RAM and 576MB of ROM, a 3.7-inch WVGA LCD TFT capacitive touchscreen and 900/2100 dual-band UMTS/HSPA. HTC are positioning the Mozart as their audio-centric device, among the HD7 and the 7 Trophy, but in actual fact it’s the photography-biased model. On the back is an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with a Xenon flash, as opposed to the 5-megapixels and LED flashes of its counterparts.
