Looks like the full implementation of the early window could come true. Malaysia is close to completing the rollout of electronic Know Your Customer verification, or eKYC, as part of broader efforts to improve online safety and digital identity verification. According to Bernama, engagement sessions with industry players are now almost complete, signalling that implementation is entering its final stages.

As we reported before, Malaysia is preparing to introduce stricter controls on social media access for younger users, with new regulations targeting those under the age of 16. Now, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the measures are expected to be implemented by June or July 2026, pending final review and industry feedback. It's a month earlier than the initial projection.
