News & Reviews:   Asus MemoPad 8

As one of the latest tablets in the market the ASUS MeMO Pad 8 ME581CL offers some really top-of-the-line technologies, including AnyPen technology. AnyPen allows you to use many different objects as a stylus and we go hands-on with a pencil, metal chopstick and chilli. Other notable tech specs include an 8-inch full HD 1080p display, 4G LTE, NFC and a fast 64-bit Intel processor. Thankfully, the screen on the MeMO Pad 8 ME581CL is really tough and scratch resistant thanks to a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, so it can take most pointy things without any scratches. Retailing at RM1099 the MeMO Pad 8 ME581CL is now available for even lower around RM959 or so at third-party sellers like SatuGadgetDotCom and DirectD. ASUS and KDDI Japan recently announced what appears to be the first Android tablet powered by a 64-bit processor. To top it all off, this processor is one of the latest 64-bit Silvermont cores from Intel and the tablet itself is a variation of the ASUS MeMo Pad 8. Now, there is already an ASUS MeMo Pad 8 tablet out in the market, but it is powered by a 1.6Ghz quad-core ARM-based processor. This new one announced for KDDI Japan offers some fairly interesting tech specs which include:

• 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 Moorefield processor
• 2GB RAM
• 16GB storage + up to 64GB microSDXC
• 8-inch display (1920 x 1200 pixel resolution)
• 5MP rear camera + 1.3MP front camera
• Supports 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, WiMax 2+, NFC
• 305g
• 4530 mAh battery

While the Asus MemoPad 8, MemoPad FHD 10 and FonePad Note 6 were all recently announced they still haven't got their offical Malaysia launching yet, the good folks at Lowyat.net got an interesting leaked image showing off pricing and confirming tech specs. Reconfirming most of what has already been reported on, the Asus MemoPad 8 will have an 8-inch screen, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 5MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, come in black or white and be priced at RM649. The Asus MemoPad FHD 10 on the other hand will have a 10.1-inch screen, a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 5MP rear camera, a 1.2MP front camera, come in blue and white and be priced at RM1199.
