Alcatel recently announced the Alcatel Idol X+ which not only comes with a new octa-core processor from Mediatek but also includes a bluetooth activity tracker wristband. In terms of looks, it isn't that different from the Alcatel Idol Xexcept that in terms of tech specs, the Idol X+ adds on a 2500 mAh battery and a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor and chipset. This also adds on 0.9mm to the smartphone for a still quite thin 7.9mm. Other tech Idol X tech specs remain the same like 2GB RAM, a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera anda 5-inch IPS display with 1080p pixel resolution. The earlier rumoured smartwatch hasn't arrived yet but the wristband is Bluetooth capable and will be called theBoom Band. The Boom Band will act as a proximity alarm so you won't get separated from your Idol X+ and also as an activity tracker. Pricing for the Alcatel Idol X+ and the Boom Band will start from just $330 (RM1086). So far, there isn't any official Malaysia pricing or release dates just yet but you could find the Alcatel Idol X+ from local sellers soon.

Looking to offer a year end deal for the midrange masses, Celcom are now offering the Alcatel Idol X, HTC Desire 500, IMobile IQ X and Sony Xperia C on Celcom postpaid plans from RM488. Available on the Celcom First plans with either an mBasic or mAdvance mobile Internet data plan, users can get the listed midrange smartphones on 12 month and 18 month contracts.
