It wasn't all that long ago when Google used codenames for its Android versions instead of numbers, tasty codenames too. For example, Android 8 was Oreo and Android 9 was named Pie. The company dropped the tradition with Android 10, though internally there was a codename for it. Now, a new interview has revealed the codename for Android 11 as well.

Unlike the way storage is handled in a Windows PC, files in Android OS are gone for good when deleted. This isn't always a good thing, as you may not have intended to do the deletion or decide to retrieve certain files later on. A new storage feature in Android 11 will solve that problem.

There's no news for the release of Android 11 but we will probably see it between Q3-Q4 annually, but it seems that Google have accidentally let the cat out of the bag earlier than expected. Initially, the first beta release was supposed to be 3 June but wopsie, some devices got the new Android 11 update already by mistake.

It seems that someone at Google had a trigger finger on the post button today. Keen eyes spotted the developer preview page updated from Android 10 to Android 11 earlier, suggesting that Google may already be on the verge of releasing a beta for the next Android version to developers.
