According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will launch the next-gen iPad mini near the end of 2023 or in the first quarter of 2024. Kuo's information contradicts the previous rumours saying that the company will replace the compact-size iPad with a foldable tablet.

Based on a statement by gizmochina, it seems that there could be a possibility that Apple might stop producing the iPad Mini as soon as they release a foldable iPhone. While we've yet to see any news on Malaysia release dates or pricing for the Apple iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, the Apple Malaysia Store has already revealed the updated pricing for the previous Apple iPad tablets. This includes a price drop for all of the tablets including the iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini 2 of about RM150 to RM300 or so for each. The iPad mini now only has 16GB versions, while the iPad mini 2 has 16GB and 32GB versions. The previous iPad 4 has also been removed from listings, leaving the iPad Air with 16GB and 32GB versions. The Apple iPad mini is the first generation 7.9-inch tablet from Apple while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the official next generation tablet after the first Samsung Galaxy Tab (despite there being several other tablets that came directly after the first Galaxy Tab). Both fit the 7-inch touchscreen tablet class but each device has it's own tech specs, features and pricing. Usually when a tech device like a smartphone or a tablet is called a Mini, it means that it is a cut down or lower-end version of the main device that it takes it's name from. This seems to be the general feeling that most users get before thinking about getting the Apple iPad Mini. However, they couldn't be further from the truth as this little 7.9-inch tablet packs in a whole bunch of features within a just as excellently designed casing as the original Apple iPad. One of the main issues most people had with the Apple iPad Mini was the fact that it didn't have a Retina display. The Retina display was the one feature that made the Apple iPad such a big thing, so why didn't Apple put in one for the iPad mini? The answer is probably because they wanted to release a Retina-enabled iPad Mini later as current rumours seem to indicate. According to these rumours this new Retina screen enabled iPad Mini is set for release sometime in Q3 of 2013.
