The global premium smartphone market sales reached its highest ever level in 2021 with an impressive 24% year-on-year (YoY) increase. This is according to a report by Counterpoint Research, a global industry analysis firm based in Asia.

The study, conducted by Counterpoint Research’s Market Pulse Service found that premium-priced smartphones with a wholesale average selling price (ASP) of more than ~RM1700 outpaced the 7% YoY growth of overall global smartphone sales last year. In fact, premium smartphones amounted to 27% of 2021’s global smartphone sales.

Apple recently released the iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 updates for supported iPhones and iPads. For the former, it comes with a quality-of-life update that a majority of iPhone users have been waiting for: the ability to use FACE ID with your face mask on.

The iPhone 13 series could be better than what Apple has claimed. According to the latest report, the A15 Bionic chip that powers all the models is actually more capable than what is written on paper. After conducting the test, 12% gain was found over Apple's own claim of the A15 being 50% faster.
