Rumours: Apple iPhone Light and iPhone 5S Drawings Leak

Apple's upcoming smartphone, the Apple iPhone 5S and the rumoured affordable iPhone Light have recently got some leaked images, this time in the form of to-scale drawings. What sets them apart is that they seem genuine enough for case makers to start manufacturing cases for them. The drawings reveal much as the more affordable iPhone Light retains the same shape with a 4-inch display but is slightly thicker due to the possibly plastic casing. The home button remains the same with a front facing camera.

  • Rumours: Cheaper $99 iPhone, Larger 5.7-inch iPhone and the Next iPhone 5S

Rumours: Cheaper $99 iPhone, Larger 5.7-inch iPhone and the Next iPhone 5S

Apple has long been a supporter of releasing only one product in a one-size-fits-all sort of approach with their devices and smartphones. The Apple iPhone is no different. Samsung on the other hand like to flood the market with a smartphone for every use, niche or price point, which is why some sources believe that Apple may be looking to do the same soon.

  • Rumours: Next iPhone Getting 2x Pixels Screen?

Rumours: Next iPhone Getting 2x Pixels Screen?

Based on a rumour from China, possibly from component suppliers, Apple may be doubling the amount of pixels in the screen for the next iPhone. This would result in the side bezels becoming thinner, following the same look and feel as the iPad mini. Currently, the iPhone 5 has a Retina display with 730000 pixels anda pixel density of 326ppi. Doubling the number of pixels would mean about 1500000 pixels for a pixel density of 460ppi.

  • Rumours: iOS 7 Going for Flatter Black and White User Interface?

Rumours: iOS 7 Going for Flatter Black and White User Interface?

Rumours about what Apple is going to do extend even to their upcoming iOS 7 operating system, with many wondering what Apple have up their sleeves this time. With the impending Worldwide Developer Conference this 10 June 2013, we may not have to wait that long, but rumours about iOS 7, the next big version of Apple's mobile operating system are practically buzzing. While quite a few rumours indicate that iOS7 is going for a flatter look, a new bit of information is that the user interface or UI may be going for more black and white elements.

  • Rumour: iPhone 5S going dual shot?

Rumour: iPhone 5S going dual shot?

While it still hasn't come out yet, the Apple iPhone 5S continues to gain more and more rumours. While hardware rumours such as an improved 2MP front-facing camera seem very unlikely (the S versions of Apple's iPhone usually involve software upgrades more than hardware upgrades) some rumours still fit. This includes a rumour from iOSDoc that mentions the next iPhone will come out with iOS 7 and the ability to record full HD Videos. It also mentions the fact that it may have a dual-shot feature allowing you to take a shot or a video using both cameras at the same time.

  • Rumours: Apple iPhone 5S getting a 12MP camera?

Rumours: Apple iPhone 5S getting a 12MP camera?

Apple's next iPhone iteration, the Apple iPhone 5S looks to be breaking with tradition as rather than a software update it may also include a hardware update as well. Rumours have recently surfaced that the Apple iPhone 5S may feature a 12MP camera, which is 4MP higher than the current 8MP camera sensor in the Apple iPhone 5. This rumour comes courtesy of a source from Wonderful Saigon Electrics, the component maket who deals with Apple's camera modules. Other features of the updated 12MP camera sensor include better low-light shooting and HDR support.

Apple iPhone 5S Concepts reveal Possibly 2 Different Models

oncept renders often reveal new possible models, and these new concept images of the Apple iPhone may just reveal two brand new models, mainly the rumoured cheap Apple iPhone and the new Apple iPhone 5S. In a side by side comparison with the Apple iPhone, the red coloured version looks like it was made with plastic marking it as the possible cheaper Apple iPhone.

Rumour: Apple iPhone 5S Prototype Pictured

A few days back we talked about possible features of the Apple iPhone 5S (and other future Apple iPhones). One of the main rumours that we brought up involved a curved wraparound display. At the time of writing, the pictures available were figures used within the patent filing, however, recently photos of a possible Apple iPhone 5S prototype with almost exactly the same curved looking screen have surfaced.

  • Apple iPhone 5S rumours: Malaysia Unveiling Date, Wraparound display and Anti-Gravity Safety

Apple iPhone 5S rumours: Malaysia Unveiling Date, Wraparound display and Anti-Gravity Safety

Rumours about new phones constantly crop up and Apple's iPhone 5S is no different. For the first rumour about Apple's iPhone 5S unveiling date, while a few sources have said that it could be in August 2013, some are saying that it could go on sale one month earlier in July. This rumour is based on a prediction by an Apple tech fanzine. Other launch dates include June which would allow it better competition with the Samsung Galaxy S4. If the Apple iPhone 5S were to be launched on 20 June 2013 it would also nearly coincide with the anniversary of the original Apple iPhone's launch (29 June 2007).

  • Apple Patent: Safety Tech so that Device Always Lands on Back

Apple Patent: Safety Tech so that Device Always Lands on Back

Apple has always been about patents but this is probably one of the more useful sounding ones so far. Instead of a patent for a rounded edges, this patent is about a "Protective Mechanism for an Electronic Device" that allows an electronic device to shift the weight of a falling device in such a way that it would always fall on it's back. This means if your smartphone had this feature and it fell, you wouldn't have to deal with a cracked screen (Corning Gorilla Glass still cracks due to falls).

The way it works is that when the device is falling the phone detects free fall using position sensors, imaging sensors and accelerometers. Then it sends a signal to the protective mechanism, allowing it to land on the strongest part of the chassis (usually the back part), minimizing the possibility of cracks or damage to the device and the screen of the device.
