The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living MInistry (KPDN) has revealed that the number of public transport and goods vehicles registered under the Bantuan Subsidi MADANI programme (BUDI MADANI) remains unsatisfactory. Its Deputy Minister. Fuziah Salleh said that based on the latest data, only 259,141 out of 410,000 eligible vehicles had applied under the Diesel Subsidy Control System (SKDS) as of 4 August.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli in Parliament today revealed that the government is currently assessing the need for subsidy rationalisation for RON95. However, the focus and priority for now is on the implementation of targeted subsidies for diesel which started on 10 June.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has announced that as of today, it has approved more than 30000 applications for the BUDI MADANI RM200 cash aid initiative for diesel vehicle owners. MOF added that the recipients, including farmers and small-scale commodity growers, will receive first cash assistance amounting to RM200 each which will be disbursed on 10 June through their bank accounts.

Previously, we shared how the BUDI MADANI Subsidy Assistance Programme which provides targeted subsidies for diesel vehicle owners and smallholders are now open for applications. Following this, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has recently clarified that registration for BUDI MADANI is only meant to close the data gap in the Central Database Hub (PADU).
