With Christmas just around the corner, Celcom Axiata Berhad has decided to reward its customers including Xpax users by giving away one million worth of movie tickets whenever they subscribe to any Xpax mobile Internet plan or new sign up with any FiRST plans and purchase of Max up. This is currently on going starting from December this month until the end of February 2016.
“For the month of December until 6 January 2016, customers will be qualified to enjoy a free movie ticket with selected cinemas nationwide whenever they purchase any of our internet plans. Customers who prefer to consume the giveaway digitally can also opt for complimentary movies on ESCAPE as well.” said Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin, Chief of Sales and Marketing Officer, Celcom Axiata Berhad. “Celcom will always place the needs of our customers first by fuelling them with seamless internet coverage together with millions of rewards. This time, our focus is to top-up our customers’ needs with millions of giveaways like entertainment, food, beverages and many more.” he added.

On 2 December, Celcom Axiata Berhad won three awards from two well-known tech publications - PC.com and Hardwarezone.com, consecutively in the same week from their year-long effort on customer service and providing the best user experience.
This marks Celcom’s second successive win in two years, for winning Best Telco Brand 2015 at the HWM+HardwareZone.com Tech Awards 2015; and getting two more surprises at the PC.com Readers’ Choice Awards Night 2015 with Best Customer Service for Telecommunications and Best Post-paid Service Provider.

Maxis has made a surprise move by inviting both Digi and Celcom to have a discussion on setting the industry standards for 4G LTE. 23 November 2015 will be the date and Maxis hopes that the three telco giants can have a meaningful meeting to allow them to determine how to measure coverage in various territories. Maxis also claims they only want to provide what’s best for their customers and “have a fair basis for choosing”.

Celcom Axiata Berhad recently announced that through a partnership with Gigalink Solutions Sdn Bhd, it will now be able to provide M2M (machine-to-machine) targeted digital media content for taxis. This will be done through the Smartaxiads plarform allowing Celcom to show smart advertisements on taxis via Celcom 4G LTE. The platform will include a touch screen and interactive content such as the latest updates in the city that should prove useful to the right passenger. The Smartaxiads platform will utilize tablet-size panels installed at the driver's and front passenger's headrests in the taxi while a mini-sized router installed inthe headrests will connect with the Celcom 4G LTE via a special customized dongle. Other capabilities include the ability to detect and track Smartaxiads equipped vehicles. The Smartaxiads platform will be tied to the meter, so it will only come on when the taxi meter is running. It has already been installed in 500 taxis for now with another 1000 expected soon. Future features include more interactive applications and a passenger panic button along with plans to expand into Indonesia in the near future. Here's what they said about it:

Celcom looks to be having a midnight Apple iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch like usual as they just put out the invite for tonight to be held at the Blue Cube at Sunway Pyramid. As an incentive for those wanting to pick up the latest Apple iPhone under a Celcom subscription, Celcom are offering a number of freebies for the first 100 customers which includes an Apple iPhone case, a Self-repairing screen protector worth RM150 and either an RM500 voucher or Mystery Gift. While the Phone case and screen protector seems obvious the choice of either an RM500 voucher or a Mystery gift indicates that there could be some sort of lucky draw amongst the 100 early-bird subscribers. The event is set to start at 8pm today, so there should be time enough to pick up some supplies and wait for midnight.

Celcom and Mobiroo are partnering up to offer Celcom subscribers who are using Android, the ability to download unlimited amounts of paid Android apps to their Android devices (smartphone or tablet) for just RM9.90 per month. This price has been lowered from the standard RM18.80 per month for the initial introduction period. According to Mobiroo, they currently have 750 paid Android apps available for download which you can then share between two devices from a single account. The monthly fee is charged to subscribers monthly postpaid bill or prepaid account.
