2020 might not have treated some of us well, what with the COVID-19 virus still at large. But a lot of great stuff happened in the tech space in the past year including (but not limited to) product launches, VR headsets, PC components, new technologies, and more.

If you surf Instagram a lot, you probably have seen people taking photos of themselves in a bathtub. It's a common tactic for attractive females and influencers to gain tons of likes and shares but unfortunately, that's not the case for Olesya Semenova who recently died for doing so.

Fast-charging has been around for a few years and improved to a great degree. While wireless charging is more recent and still needs a lot of improvement, researchers are already working on the next step. To be exact, scientists have managed to develop a new device that's capable of charging devices from a distance.

Based on a statement by Mark Gurman, it seems that Apple’s MagSafe Duo Charger is able to achieve up to 14W per device while requiring a separate 27W USB-C power adapter that’s sold separately. Not only that, but if you were to hook up a 20W USB-C power adapter to the Apple MagSafe Duo Charge, it's able to achieve charging speeds of up to 11W.

Smartwatch is a rising tech gadget in recent years as evidenced by sales reports from the wearable industry. Not only it is slowly replacing conventional watches, but it has also demonstrated several features that are of great help for users. Now, researchers are working on a technology that allows users to charge their smartwatches just by moving.

OPPO has officially announced that their Wireless Flash Charging Technology will make its debut during the Auto China 2020, which takes place from late September to early October 2020. The aforementioned technology will showcase how easy and seamless the wireless charger can be pre-installed in cars during the factory installation phase.

Earlier today, OPPO unveiled their new 125W flash charging technology which is capable of fully charging a 4000mAh equipped smartphone in than 13 minutes depending on the conditions. This is thanks to a combination of several new internal hardware such as 10 new temperature sensors, multiple-tab double 6C Cells, and three parallel charge pumps working in unison in order to maximize charging speed even without compromising on safety.

Based on a statement by a Weibo user, it seems that the top 5 smartphone manufacturers in China could be working on a technology which allows smartphones to support up to 120W fast charging. While not much is known in regards to exactly which companies are involved, we do know that Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo showcased something similar not too long ago.

It seems that Xiaomi recently unveiled the Mi Power Bank 3 which comes with up to 18W fast charging, and it will be priced at RMB169 (~RM101). While there is no official information on when it will be coming to Malaysia, we do know that it is currently listed on JD.com for pre-order.

Recently, a patent by realme called SUPERDART which is a fast-charging technology was posted up on Twitter by Mukul Sharma. While not much is known in regards to the aforementioned technology, gsmarena hinted that this could be a direct response to Xiaomi’s 100W charging technology.
