    Maxis invites Digi and Celcom for a 4G LTE discussion

    Maxis has made a surprise move by inviting both Digi and Celcom to have a discussion on setting the industry standards for 4G LTE. 23 November 2015 will be the date and Maxis hopes that the three telco giants can have a meaningful meeting to allow them to determine how to measure coverage in various territories. Maxis also claims they only want to provide what’s best for their customers and “have a fair basis for choosing”.

    Celcom reveals secure Zipit Chat, FREE until 22 November 2015

    Celcom Axiata Berhad recently revealed a new secure chat app called Zipit Chat which offers encrypted chats, email and voice over IP (VoIP) along with password protection, stealth mode, self destructing messages and private mode for your phone book and media. Zipit Chat is built based on Advanced Encryption Standards (AES) 256 for more secure mobile services. Zipit Chat is available from Google play for Android at only RM10.00 while the iOS version for App store will only be available next month.     Celcom recently announced their new FIRST Basic 38 by Celcom postpaid plan for just RM38 a month at full speeds on one of the fastest networks in Malaysia. Featuring up to 3GB Internet + 3GB WiFi for a limited 3 month promotional time, subscribers also get 50 minutes worth of calls and 50 SMS for free. This new plan is also the first network in Malaysia that allows you to carry forward any remaining balance of allocated Internet to the next month for up to 3GB of carry forward unused Internet. The complimentary 1GB Internet + 1GB Wi-Fi will be available for as long as you are subscribed. You can also stay connected even after you've finished this quota with additional Max Up (RM3/100MB, RM10/500MB, RM15/1GB, RM50/5GB) also available.     Celcom and Gigalink partnership will offer interactive digital ads and content on taxis

    Celcom Axiata Berhad recently announced that through a partnership with Gigalink Solutions Sdn Bhd, it will now be able to provide M2M (machine-to-machine) targeted digital media content for taxis. This will be done through the Smartaxiads plarform allowing Celcom to show smart advertisements on taxis via Celcom 4G LTE. The platform will include a touch screen and interactive content such as the latest updates in the city that should prove useful to the right passenger. The Smartaxiads platform will utilize tablet-size panels installed at the driver's and front passenger's headrests in the taxi while a mini-sized router installed inthe headrests will connect with the Celcom 4G LTE via a special customized dongle. Other capabilities include the ability to detect and track Smartaxiads equipped vehicles. The Smartaxiads platform will be tied to the meter, so it will only come on when the taxi meter is running. It has already been installed in 500 taxis for now with another 1000 expected soon. Future features include more interactive applications and a passenger panic button along with plans to expand into Indonesia in the near future. Here's what they said about it:
