News & Reviews:   Cybercrimes Bill 2026 approved by Dewan Rakyat

The Cybercrimes Bill 2026 was approved by the Dewan Rakyat in Malaysia today with penalties for deepfakes and AI manipulated images but must clearly show criminal intent and consequences. Disclosure of data can only be carried out through written notice on the risk that the data could be deleted or altered if no action is taken immediately. The bill is aimed at strengthening existing laws and won’t override existing laws such as the Official Secrets Act 1972.
