Sony Semiconductor Solutions recently announced their LYTIA L910 50MP stacked CMOS mobile image sensor. Designed to capture an immense 100 dB high dynamic range using only a single exposure it is the first to use a Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC) structure. No Malaysia release dates or price details yet but it should be heading out to brands in Q3 of 2026.

Smartphone photography has come a long way and it has now reached a point of being a good enough quality for most people to use, especially if they’re just using the photos for social media. However, there’s no doubt that the quality of smartphone cameras is getting incrementally better year-over-year and now, Japanese tech giant Sony is even predicting that smartphone cameras will surpass DSLR quality by 2024.

Based on a statement by sonyalpharumors.com, it seems that Sony might have delisted the Sony A68, A99, II, and A77 II from their official website. With that in mind, there’s a huge possibility that Sony is keen to stop offering DSLRs and instead put more focus on their mirrorless cameras such as the Sony A7 series.
