The Google Pixel 6a is set to officially launch on 28 July 2022, but it looks like Google may already have to make some tweaks to its software due to a rather problematic bug. According to various tech personalities that are reviewing the smartphone, the in-display fingerprint sensor is allowing almost anyone to unlock the device despite their biometrics are not registered to the device.

Google officially released the Google Pixel 6a during its Google I/O event earlier today, the latest in its popular ‘A-series’ mid-range smartphone lineup. Echoing the same design aesthetics from the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel 6a has a raised visor-like camera module at its rear and a two-toned colour scheme.

Google may be releasing the much anticipated Google Pixel 6a at its annual developer conference next month after the device was potentially spotted getting FCC listing. The timing of the listing aligns perfectly with Google I/O which will take place this 11 May in Mountain View, California.

The Google Pixel 6a, the latest mid-range smartphone from the tech giant is expected to be released soon and it could potentially be faster than the regular Pixel 6. Specs-wise, the ‘Pixel a’ lineup has traditionally been inferior to the regular Pixel, but this time around it might be different.

According to a leaked Geekbench listing, the Pixel 6a actually beats the standard version in terms of performance. In fact, while minimal, the Pixel 6a actually outperforms the Pixel 6 in single-core and multi-core scores. 

There's still a while for us to meet the Google Pixel 6a, but its rumours are quite active recently. Thanks to this leaked image of the retail box, we might also be able to confirm how the device will look at this moment.
