Google has announced the rollout of Gemini for Education across all public universities in Malaysia, covering all 20 Malaysian public universities, reaching nearly 600000 students and about 75000 faculty members. The rollout integrates Gemini directly within existing Google Workspace for Education environments used by universities, allowing students and educators to access AI-powered tools for learning, research and administrative tasks.

Previously it was reported that Artificial Intelligence or AI basics would be taught to primary school children in Malaysia in 2027. However, Google has just announced Gemini and other AI tools for Google Workspace for Education. While they are available for our schools Google Classroom, they are turned off by default and have to be activated by administrators before they can be used by students. However, with Malaysian schools still grappling with DLP, it seems very much like we're just not ready for it. As such, we took a closer look at it to discuss what Malaysian schools need to clear to handle Gemini for Google Workspace for Education Now.
