Google has announced several new features for Google Play aimed at improving how users discover, purchase, and play paid games across both mobile and PC platforms. The updates introduce game trials, cross-platform purchases, and new community features designed to enhance the overall gaming experience.

You read that correctly. Starting on 15 June 2025, Google has announced that Google Play gift cards will no longer be available for purchase in Malaysia. However, users who have purchased gift cards prior to this date can redeem them and use their Google Play balance until 31 January 2026.

By early 2024, the Google Play Store has over 3.4 million apps to users. But according to data from AppFigures via Tech Crunch this week, the Play Store now only offers 1.8 million apps, which is a 47% reduction. So, what should you know about it?

The South Korean Government has removed DeepSeek from the Apple App Store and Google Play in the country, essentially banning all new downloads of the AI chatbot. According to the country’s Personal Information Protection Commission, the move was due to privacy concerns.

Today, Google launched a new Google Play service update for Google Password Manager. Starting today onwards, users can now share their passwords with their family members securely via the function. It can be done on Google Chrome and Android.
