There have been noises among the fans that Sony seems to be slowing down with innovation lately. Many other manufacturers seem to be leaping forward ahead from Sony, and some of the recent smartphone releases did not fully showcase the true potential of the brand and their design capabilities. The new Sony Xperia XZ however has finally silenced the critics, and it is the true flagship that many have been waiting for from the Japanese company. Find out why we think so too in this review.

Last week saw the official refresh of the long awaited Apple MacBook Pro with a faddish "new" feature while Microsoft announced their Surface Studio, Surface Dial and Surface Book. However, the biggest news of the week was probably the announcement of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and their first unique looking smartphone, the fully ceramic Mi MIX alongside their Mi VR headset.

Honor have made a number of value beating smartphones that while offering good performance and innovation on par with some flagships, many of their ‘flagships’ haven't always looked the part. Breaking out of their ‘value beating’ cliche, Honor are finally coming out with a smartphone that looks as awesome as most flagships with their metal frame glass front and back Honor 8. The Honor 8 certainly turns heads with its flashy looks and slim profile, but if you're looking for a closer look at this smartphone, especially the more premium sapphire blue version than we have a treat for you as we managed to get some time with the phone up close and personal. This week Malaysia saw the Bajet 2017, with a proposed increase in broadband speeds at the same price rate from January 2017, while Malaysia's telcos all came out with their respective Apple iPhone 7 deals. This includes Maxis with their trade up and RealView stock checker, along with U Mobile and their UPackage plan.

However, most of the tech news this week involved the official arrival of the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus and their subsequent deliveries or bundled launches with Celcom, Maxis (which involved interrupting a band), Digi and U Mobile along with GemFive.

The 'selfie generation' are rapidly taking over the Internet and social media with pictures of themselves and their lives. As such, they appreciate a device like the Honor 8 which lets them take photos effortlessly, turning amateurs into skilled photographers who can capture 'moments' perfectly.

Sorry TechNavers, last week due to weekend events and issues we could not foresee, I couldn't get the Weekly TechNave out. The good news is that now we have 2 weeks of tech news and events for this week's Weekly TechNave.

Internationally, the Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus got launched along with the TCL 950 and Blackberry will not be designing smartphones anymore. Samsung also officially announced their Galaxy A8 (2016).
