  • HTC Desire Eye and Re Camera released in Malaysia for RM1699 and RM699

HTC Desire Eye and Re Camera released in Malaysia for RM1699 and RM699

Just as reported earlier, HTC has announced the HTC Desire Eye smartphone and the HTC Re camera in Malaysia today. The Desire Eye will be available for a retail price of RM1699 in two colors - Submarine Blue and Coral Red. The Re camera will go on sale around mid-December for RM699 in Navy Blue, White and Orange. Although HTC's Desire range usually features mid-range tech specs, the HTC Desire Eye is an exception. Tech specs include a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage with MicroSD card support. On the front is a 5.2inch IPS display with Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. HTC has included the same 13MP sensor at both the front and the back, so the device can take beautiful selfies from its front camera too.  It is also IP57 certified, so you can take it for a dip or underwater selfie as well. The Re camera is a cylindrical shaped device made for simplifying the process of taking pictures of your everyday life.  Inside, you have a 16MP sensor which can take 1080p videos at 30 fps and 720p Slow-Mo videos at 120 fps. You can connect the device to iOS and Android smartphones using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. HTC has not yet announced an exact date for the Malaysia availability of the Re Camera, but we expect it to happen sometime later around 15 December 2014.

  • HTC confirms the next version of the HTC RE camera coming in 2015

HTC confirms the next version of the HTC RE camera coming in 2015

Just a few days back we reported that HTC Malaysia was going to release the HTC Desire Eye smartphone and the HTC RE camera in the country on 5 December 2015. While we still have a day to go, a new report says that the second generation of this unique camera is already confirmed. According to Focus Taiwan, Jack Tong, the North Asia president of HTC confirmed that a new HTC Re camera was already under works and would be released sometime later in 2015. The device would be tailor made as a product for the mass consumer market. However, as of now, HTC has not yet revealed anything about this upcoming second generation of this everyday camera. The HTC Re is the company's first attempt at a standalone action camera and aims to compete with the likes of GoPro, but in a more casual manner. In fact, clicking pictures with this cylindrical shaped device is much easier than most other cameras in the market as it lets you shoot videos and capture images with just a click of a button. Given that the Re camera is releasing in Malaysia on 5 December 2015, expect concrete details like Malaysia availability and pricing in the next few days.

HTC Desire Eye and RE camera arriving in Malaysia on 5 December 2014

A month back, HTC announced the HTC RE, a GoPro competitor alongside its dual-13MP camera HTC Desire Eye. Now, both the devices are expected to hit the Malaysian markets on 5 December 2014. While GoPro is marketed as the camera for the adrenaline junkies, the new HTC RE is more of a professional camera for everyday use. It features a 16MP f/2.8 aperture Sony camera sensor with 146 degree wide angle lens. While it doesn't support 2K, you can record videos at FULL HD 1080p resolution at 30 fps and HD 720p resolution at 120 fps. The HTC RE comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options and is compatible with Android and iOS. There's an 820 mAh rechargeable battery on board, good enough for 1200 images or 1 hour 40 minutes of video shooting. The HTC Desire Eye is also a one of a kind product.  It features a 13MP camera as well as dual LED flash on both the back and the front. Other tech specs like a Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with MicroSD card slot and 2300 mAh battery are in line with the flagship smartphones available in the market. HTC has yet to announce the official Malaysia pricing and availability of both the devices but we should know more next week.
