News & Reviews:   Huawei Honor V8 Malaysia

After the launch of the Honor V8 in China recently, we have received news that it will not be coming to the Malaysian Market as it is apparently designed for the China market. However a new info had appeared online about the other Honor model that should be going on sale around the world, the Honor 8.

In conjunction with the arrival of the upcoming Huawei P9 to Malaysia on 28 May, we decided to do a comparison between the Huawei P9 and Huawei Honor V8. It may not look like there's much to compare, but there is; despite both having the same dual lens camera and similar specifications, and both are from the same company. So why separate the two that has almost the same thing and what's the difference? Read below to find out.

Just as when Xiaomi unveiled the 6.44-inch Mi Max phablet yesterday, Huawei also showcased their latest honor V8 flagship at China. Available in ceramic white, rose gold, ice silver, champagne gold, elegant gray, and light gold platinum, it's reported that Huawei is targeting at the younger generation with this device, the device also has dual camera lens on the back like the P9 series, and Huawei also wants the V8 to be a platform for virtual reality. If you remember your history lesson last year, Huawei CEO Richard Yu commented that there's no need for smartphones to use 2K displays as regular customers won't be able to tell apart between a 1080p panel and a 2K panel. However, that didn't seem to be the case anymore as just recently through his Weibo account, he revealed the honor series will adapt the 2K displays for VR purpose.

The new Huawei honor V8 announcement is not far away, in fact, it will be officially announced on 10 May 2016. Rumours and leaks regarding the phone keep on surfacing though, this time it was spotted on China's TENAA with three variants of the phone, namely the KNT-AL10, KNT-TL10, and KNT-AL20. Probably in standard, plus and enhanced editions.

There is only about two weeks left before the official release of Honor V8, which is rumoured to happen on 10 May 2016. Just like the Huawei P9, the V8 may also feature a two-lens camera, but without the co-engineered with LEICA part. Nevertheless, according to some new reports online, the Honor V8 will be using a device codename "Knight", and it is expected to house a 5.5-inch FHD display, a Kirin 950 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 8MP front camera, a USB Type-C port and 3000mAh battery. Furthermore, the Honor V8 is assumed to be priced around 2000 Yuan which is about RM1202.
