Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's Consumer Business Group was recently quoted that the next Huawei phone will have a 2K or QHD display with at least 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. Previously, he held onto an adamant stance that no Huawei device would have a display larger than FHD or 1920 x 1080 or a camera sensor bigger than 13MP because there was no difference in quality and that it would use battery life inefficiently.
“last year I would certainly not buy a 2K device as the power consumption was high and the difference to my eyes non-existent. But now I have changed my mind and my next phone will be 2K as I like VR!” Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group

This week, Malaysia's telcos continued to battle it out. Celcom officially announced their FIRST Platinum plan with a number of extras like their first Home Broadband offering. Maxis also went official with their updated MaxisONE plans and shared Data Pool. Not much news from the other telcos except perhaps U Mobile offering free mobile Internet for Waze users and Digi's postpaid plan for students. Tune Talk also did their Indonesian-centric Bisa Pak, signalling perhaps more "innovative features" from other telcos coming soon.

Huawei has been on a roll recently, hitting all the right notes, resulting in a net profit of 36.9 billion CNY. While there were profits from the carrier and enterprise business groups, what should be noted was a 73% rise year on year from the consumer business group (they're the ones making the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei Nexus 6P, honor 7 Enhanced, honor 7, honor 5X, Huawei MateBook and just announced Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus).

Huawei Malaysia recently released their new flagship Huawei Mate 8 smartphone. The phone has beautiful design and hardware with beast -like performance but for myself, rather buggy software. When I first get my hands on the Mate 8, I immediately fell in love with the build quality, as the aluminium back feels great in the hand.
Everything in terms of hardware features are amazing, super responsive fingerprint scanner and the Kirin 950 chipset is a beast of a performer but you can see more in the video below. The Huawei Mate 8 that we got for review is the normal version with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage which is now available in Malaysia officially at RM2099 while the market price ranges from RM 1845 - RM1945.
