Based on a statement by a user on Reddit, it seems that Google might have blocked the sideloading of Google apps on Huawei smartphones via the Kirin processor detection. While not much is known in regards to why did Google do this, it seems that smartphones that are affected include the Huawei P30, P20, as well as the P40 due to “incompatible CPU/processor”.

Based on a bunch of images spotted on huaweicentral.com, it seems that the Huawei P40 series will get AI 50MP camera mode via firmware update which could improve the pictures taken by the smartphone.
