With great anticipation of the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite making their debut on 28 May 2016 in Malaysia, Huawei Malaysia has decided to a super sales promotion starting on 12PM, this coming Saturday at Huawei Experience Store in KLCC, Gurney Plaza, and Aeon Bukit Indah. For the first day in KLCC, the first 200 customers who purchase the Huawei P9 each get a RM500 Leica gift card and Free Honor Band Z1!

Starting out quietly and ending with a bang, this week's Weekly TechNave highlights included the shockingly affordable Malaysia pricing for the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite along with Google I/O 2016 which revealed Android N, Daydream VR and a host of other features. The ASUS ZenFone 3 rumours have started up as well including an official teaser video, benchmarks and more while Lenovo announced their moto G4 series of smartphones.

Following from the positive acclaimed Huawei P9 for its dual 12MP Leica camera lens technology over the few weeks, Huawei Malaysia has finally announced the official price list for the P9 and P9 Lite with an amazing price tag - for the P9 with 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM it be will RM2099 coming in Prestige Gold, Titanium Grey and Mystic Silver; and RM1099 for the P9 Lite with 3GB RAM + 16GB ROM, coming in simple Black, White and Gold.

Hey Huawei fans, Huawei has confirmed that the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite will be in Malaysia soon on 28 May 2016! As you may already know, the P9 is the first smartphone born out of a collaboration between Huawei and Leica, that results in a stunning dual 12MP lens camera smartphone. While there's no official retail price yet, all will be revealed on 20 May this Friday. The smartphone will come in three colour variations - Prestige Gold, Titanium Grey and Mystic Silver.

The folks at iFixit have gone and done a teardown of the Huawei P9, revealing a repairability score of 7 out of 10 for a smartphone that is fairly easy to repair. While most parts are modular, the display unit and use of Pentalobe security screws (like the kind used in the Apple iPhone 6S) are the only repair issues that iFixit says the Huawei P9 has. They also noted that the fingerprint sensor is the same high-quality one as the part in the Huawei Nexus 6P so while you're in trouble if the display gets broken, everything else is top notch.

This week, the biggest news began with the cancellation of Intel processors for mobile, effectively announcing their withdrawal from the smartphone and mobile industry, at least for now. We might see some Intel 5G LTE processors in the future, but it basically means that there will likely be no Intel powered smartphones this year.
Second biggest was the regional announcement of the Huawei P9, P9 Plus and P9 Lite, due for a Malaysia release date after May 2016. The folks at honor celebrated their 2nd Anniversary to #seastheday while Huawei continued the streak by announcing the Huawei G9 Lite and MediaPad M2 7.0.

It's been a month now since the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus was unveiled to the world, the latest Huawei flagships are the results of the first collaboration between Huawei and the global iconic camera brand Leica back in February. Not only that, the P9 lite also made an appearance in Bali, Indonesia, however it lacks the dual rear Leica camera and is set as an affordable option for the series. The P9 series will be available in Malaysia after the end of May, but prices are yet to be announced and there are no plans for P9 Max for Southeast Asia.

If you remember your history lesson last year, Huawei CEO Richard Yu commented that there's no need for smartphones to use 2K displays as regular customers won't be able to tell apart between a 1080p panel and a 2K panel. However, that didn't seem to be the case anymore as just recently through his Weibo account, he revealed the honor series will adapt the 2K displays for VR purpose.
