The Huawei Y9 2019, is a rather special smartphone (not just because it was released in late 2018). This is mainly cause it sports specs usually only seen in higher-end phones such as a 4000mAh battery, 4GB of RAM and a 6.5-inch display for a highly affordable price of just RM819.
Some of us such as myself would be slightly sceptical as to how Huawei managed to achieve this and what kind of corners did they cut in order to achieve this kind of price. In this review, we’ll put the Huawei Y9 2019 to the test and see whether this device is capable of taking on more expensive smartphones.

Regardless of age, nearly everyone uses a smartphone, including students. The problem when it comes to getting smartphones for students is usually the budget. As someone with no job (yet), how does one get a smartphone that can fulfill their needs?
Asides from a good price, among the things students look for in a smartphone is the ability to game, a good selfie camera as well as a large battery capacity so that the phone can last through a usual school day. All of which the Huawei Y9 2019 has to offer but do read on for more details.

Sometimes when it comes to gaming, you do not necessarily need a flagship smartphone as most of the phones out there these days are more than capable of providing decent performance. It’s true that most flagship smartphones out there come shipped with extra features to improve your gaming experiences such as a higher refresh rate display, dedicated gaming buttons and more. However, that also comes with a significantly higher price tag which I personally feel, is not worth the extra cost.
Introducing you the Huawei Y9 (2019), which is currently priced at RM899. It comes equipped with the HiSilicon Kirin 710 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a 16MP + 2MP dual front-facing selfie camera, a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera, a big 6.5-inch display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and it is powered by a 4000mAh non-removable battery. This mid-range smartphone also comes equipped with the GPU Turbo technology, making a suitable candidate when it comes to mobile gaming. Or does it? Check out our gaming tests below!

We depend heavily on smartphones due to the fact that it can be used to do anything ranging from watching videos on the internet, playing games, to unlocking your house using a smart-home system. However, it is rather annoying when you head out of your house with a fully charged phone only to find out that that the battery dropped to around 75% just 2 hours later, and it's not even the end of the day yet. This makes us carry a powerbank as a necessity especially when there are barely any power outlets available throughout the day.
Some would say that the only remedy to this situation is to buy a flagship phone with a large battery. But that is not completely true, as there are many smartphones out there in the market with a decent battery size that are priced less than RM1000 such as the Huawei Y9 (2019).
