  • LG G4 officially available in Malaysia for RM2499 inclusive 6% GST

LG G4 officially available in Malaysia for RM2499 inclusive 6% GST

After appearing in the SIRIM database, the LG G4 is finally and officially available here in Malaysia for RM2499. Granted, this is a bit more than the amount it was offered for initially, but this is inclusive of 6% GST. Featuring a curved display, genuine leather backside, laser autofocus and much more, the LG G4 is currently the latest flagship smartphone from LG and is probably the first we've seen officially in Malaysia for a while. Other tech specs for the LG G4 include Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage, 4G LTE connectivity, a 3000 mAh battery, NFC,  802.11ac WiFi and Android 5.1 Lollipop. LG have always made good phones with unique design and quality builds (in remembrance of the LG VU) but haven't always had the best hype or marketing. As it is, the first batch of stock comes with a FREE extra 3000 mAh battery, charging cradle and Leather Quick Circle case at the LG Mobile Specialised Store in Sunway Pyramid.

  • ASUS ZenPad tablets and LG G4 spotted in SIRIM database, coming to Malaysia soon

ASUS ZenPad tablets and LG G4 spotted in SIRIM database, coming to Malaysia soon

The SIRIM Database is often used like China's TENAA and also usually gives a clear indication that a device may be coming to Malaysia soon. The ASUS ZenPad 7.0 or Z370CG, ASUS ZenPad C 7.0 or Z170CG and LG G4. The ZenPad tablets will have tech specs that include the new 64-bit Intel Atom x3 processors, 1GB/2GB RAM, 16GB/32GB storage and 3G connectivity. Both will feature 7-inch displays but the higher-end Z370CG will offer 1280 x 800 pixel resolutions compared to the 1024 x 600 pixels on the Z170CG. The listing for the ZenPad tablets appears to be to all the usual local distributors, suggesting that we could see the ASUS ZenPad tablets sometime soon, with early estimates set at July 2015. The LG G4 on the other hand looks to be going to one of the major smartphone distributors in Malaysia, which suggests that it may be making an official comeback to Malaysia. The LG G4 is currently the leather-clad flagship smartphone from LG with a curved 5.5-inch 2K display covered by Gorilla Glass 4, 16MP rear camera with laser autofocus and OIS and much more. Neither ASUS nor LG Malaysia have made any comment or teaser on these new arrivals, but we expect both to arrive in Malaysia soon.

  • LG G4 going global, maybe Malaysia included too?

LG G4 going global, maybe Malaysia included too?

The global rollout for the LG G4 begins this week as it will be going to Hong Kong, Turkey, Russia and Singapore with Southeast Asia and others coming afterwards. Does this mean Malaysia may see the LG G4 officially too? We sure hope so. We've reached out to LG but we still haven't got any response just yet. While the tech specs are still very camera centric with a new Color Spectrum Sensor, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and improved 2K resolution display, the most eye catching feature remains the leather backside. Check out all the videos in this article for a clearer view of the LG G4's greatness.

  • LG G4 gets drop tested

    LG G4 gets drop tested

Like all newly released smartphones, the LG G4 has finally been drop tested. Personally, we see no reason for such tests but it does show the difference in what kind of glass LG decided to go for, which was Gorilla Glass 3 and not the more drop resistant Gorilla Glass 4. The heights for the drop test are pretty much standard while the surface is a sidewalk stone. Still no news if LG Malaysia are going to bring in the LG G4 but it is already available at third-party sellers here in Malaysia. Check out the video for yourself in this article.

  • LG G4 now available in Malaysia from RM3749

LG G4 now available in Malaysia from RM3749

We don't like being right sometimes and this is one of those times as the LG G4 is now available in Malaysia, but with third-party sellers like SatuGadgetDotCom and DirectD. Priced from RM3749 this is quite a big increase from the $649 (RM2329) pricing that it is normally going for but considering that LG Malaysia may never bring it in officially this may be the only way to get the LG G4 for some people. As a refresher, tech specs and features for the LG G4 include a leather backside, curved display and 16MP rear camera with F1.8 aperture, OIS 2.0 and a new Color Spectrum Sensor which improves colour accuracy via RGB values of ambient light. The 5.5-inch display also comes with a new Quantum display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution that according to LG offers better brightness compared to other quad HD displays. Other tech specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage, 4G LTE connectivity, a 3000 mAh battery, NFC,  802.11ac WiFi and Android 5.1 Lollipop. As usual with such buys expect warranty to be AP or store only but both SatuGadgetDotCom and DirectD have fairly good service track records. If the LG G4 stock doesn't get bought up we expect the rather high current pricing to drop exponentially like the LG G3 before it but only after 6 months to a year or so.

  • LG G4 officially announced with full grain leather exterior

LG G4 officially announced with full grain leather exterior

After quite a few leaks, LG has officially announced their LG G4 flagship smartphone. Featuring a full grain leather casing the LG G4 adds on a little bit more  to the previous LG G3. This includes a 16MP rear camera with F1.8 aperture, OIS 2.0 and a new Color Spectrum Sensor which improves colour accuracy via RGB values of ambient light. The 5.5-inch display also comes with a new Quantum display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution that according to LG offers better brightness compared to other quad HD displays. However, the most telling feature has to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor as it indicates that there may still be issues with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Other tech specs include 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage, 4G LTE connectivity, a 3000 mAh battery, NFC,  802.11ac WiFi and Android 5.1 Lollipop. The new camera features a manual mode, Gesture Interval Shot and Quick shot, while an 8MP front camera rounds things up. Still no Malaysia release dates or pricing details but we expect the LG G4 to turn up at third-party sellers like SatuGadgetDotCom, Lazada or DirectD first. Rumours indicate that it could go for 680 Euros (RM2657) but we expect this to go up a bit higher at the third-party sellers.

  • LG G4 tech specs confirmed with event invitation, Malaysia still not included

LG G4 tech specs confirmed with event invitation, Malaysia still not included

The invites for the upcoming LG G4 have been sent out (unfortunately not for Malaysia) and they have confirmed a number of tech specs. These include an f/1.8 lens, a laser autofocus and two-tone LED flash. It could also come with a leather backside complete with stitching instead of just a leather pattern molded onto plastic like some other smartphone makers have done. The actual announcement is set for 28 April 2015 in London and New York. In related news, LG will be giving out 4000 LG G4 smartphones as part of their consumer experience campaign. Nearby countries like Singapore and Indonesia have been confirmed to get these LG G4 test units but still no word from LG Malaysia. Considering that, we don't think there will be any Malaysia release date or pricing details but if you're still interested, keep a close eye on third-party sellers like SatuGadgetDotCom and DirectD for now.
