BigPay today announced the launch of cash pickup services in Indonesia and the Philippines, a new addition to its existing remittance services. Called ‘Cash Pickup’, this new feature allows BigPay users in Malaysia and Singapore to send money to recipients in the aforementioned countries even if the recipients don’t have any bank accounts.

A new study by Visa have found that 93 percent of consumers in Southeast Asia have embraced cashless payment methods, including cards, contactless cards and mobile contactless, mobile wallets and QR code payments. Furthermore, the study found that 74 percent of Malaysian consumers have successfully gone cashless.

Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has announced that it will be conducting a system maintenance exercise this Sunday, 19 June 2022 from 3am to 7am. Hence, a few of its services will be temporarily unavailable during that time.

The Malaysian government is reportedly set to impose tax on imported low value goods (LVG) starting from 1 January 2023. As of right now, any goods imported using air courier services through selected airports are exempted from sales tax and custom duty should the value not exceed RM500 per consignment.
