Update - The services are stable now, you can now resume your transaction on the website and M2U app

Since this morning, it has been reported that both the M2U mobile app and Maybank website are experiencing service interruptions. This is the second time already since the last one about a few days ago but you can still do your transaction business on the MAE app. Wait...why isn't MAE down?

It seems that the Maybank2u website, as well as the Maybank2u app, is currently experiencing technical difficulties which are causing these services to load extremely slow. With that being said, Maybank has mentioned on their Facebook page that those who are keen on performing banking transactions should use the MAE app as it is not affected by the technical difficulties.

Starting from 3 December 2020, Maybank Malaysia will no longer send any SMS notifications to your smartphone. So whenever you make a Debit Card transaction, the notification will be sent to your Maybank2u (or M2U MY) app instead. 

It's been more than a year since MAE by Maybank was introduced in Malaysia. To further enhance the finance experience, the company have officially launched a new MAE by Maybank app as well as a new MAE Visa Debit card to help Malaysians take charge of their daily money management. The Maybank Grab Mastercard Platinum Credit Card has been officially unveiled where you can earn up to 5 times more rewards, which you can apply starting from today onwards at any Maybank branch in Malaysia. Furthermore, if you were to apply for the aforementioned credit card online before 30 September, you’ll be eligible for an Edifier TWS1 True Wireless Earbuds if you spend a minimum of RM300 within 45 days of the credit card approval date.

It's clear these days that traditional banks see the importance of integrating with e-commerce platforms. Maybank, VISA Malaysia, and Shopee have partnered up to launch a new VISA credit card. As you can imagine, this is a new credit card that provides its users with benefits and rewards when shopping on Shopee.

So over the weekend, Maybank apparently posted a short announcement on their official website. It seems that the MaybankPay app will be discontinued on 20 July 2020 but before you panic, it's not the Maybank2U's QR Pay, it's the one that was introduced back in 2016.

According to Bernama, it seems that any customers from other banks that withdraw money from any of the 2900 Maybank ATMs nationwide, will not be required to pay the RM1 withdrawal fee starting from 6 April 2020 until the end of the Movement Control Order (MCO) order. While there is no information on when the end of the MCO will be, we do know that the government will announce whether it will be extended on 10 April 2020.
