MediaTek has launched a new Kompanio 1300T chipset today. The Kompanio 1300T is specifically made for larger computing devices such as tablets and Chromebooks. The chip manufacturer also claims that the new chipset will provide powerful performance and a high-quality multimedia experience alongside 5G functions.

A few weeks back, MediaTek launched the Dimensity 1100 chipset, which can be found in the vivo S10 and the upcoming POCO X3 GT. But MediaTek could be working on a variant of the chipset. In fact, there's a device that's rumoured to feature this Dimensity 1100U.

Today, not only did MediaTek announce one but two new chipsets which are the Helio G96 and Helio G88. If you are familiar with the naming schemes, you should know by now that these new SoCs are designed for mobile gaming at their core. Moreover, MediaTek also integrated some mobile photography technology capabilities.

The Mediatek Dimesity 900 chipset that is said to perform better than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 768G chipset has arrived today. The new processor is the latest member of the Dimensity 5G SoC lineup and it is based on a high performance 6nm process.

Based on a report by digitimes.com, it seems that MediaTek was the biggest chipset provider for smartphones in the year 2020 as they’ve supplied around 351.6 million chips in the year alone. Compared to the previous year, MediaTek supplied 27.2% more chipsets effectively overtaking Qualcomm.

Based on a statement by money.udn.com, it seems that Xiaomi might resort to sourcing chipsets from MediaTek due to the current shortage in Qualcomm chipsets. With that being said, we could see more Xiaomi smartphones equipped with MediaTek chipsets in the future.

Many people will try to reduce their spending in 2021. This is why more affordable smartphones could be more popular choices this year. In fact, Xiaomi is expected to launch more flagship-class devices that are relatively affordable.

Today, MediaTek has announced a new M80 5G modem. From the company's newsroom, the M80 5G modem is able to support mmWave and Sub-6 GHz 5G networks. With both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) architectures, it can achieve a peak speed of up to 7.67Gbps.
