Do you remember the days of the flip phones? Well, it’s said that Microsoft is developing something similar, an unknown Surface Phone that could be “the next big thing”. Moreover, the so-called Surface Phone has “around” for about four years now, and with a new patent submitted by Microsoft last week, things should get really interesting.

Sad to say that we may have seen the last of the Lumia phones with the disbanding of the smartphone division in Microsoft. However the team was absorbed into the devices division so we may not see the last of the Microsoft designed smartphones. A new leaked render may give us some clues what we will see soon for the Surface Phone.

Now that Microsoft has sold off its Nokia division, they may just have the right resources to focus on creating a really good smartphone. The rumours are flying fast and high that the next Microsoft flagship phone will feature the upcoming Snapdragon 830 chipset.

According to reports online, there is a big possibility that the next Microsoft Surface flagship phone, will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 chipset. Microsoft listed the chip as one of the chipsets that is supported by Windows 10. Better yet, according to Qualcomm specifications, the chip supports up to 8GB of RAM, making it the first chipset to go beyond 6GB for RAM.

What will 8GB give to the rumoured Surface phone? Incredible, PC-like multitasking? Which makes sense as Windows 10 has the Continuum feature, where the smartphone becomes a portable desktop.
