Motorola Moto X officially coming to Malaysia for RM1499

Motorola's line of Moto smartphone like the Moto G and the Moto X have been designed to offer the best optimized performance despite rather lower-end hardware which is why it is great news that we'll soon be getting both here in Malaysia. The Motorola Moto X Malaysia pricing will begin from RM1499 which is a great price considering the 10MP Clear Pixel camera and Always On feature. Too bad there probably won't be Moto Maker customization but we hope that the wooden back casings will make it here somehow. No exact Malaysia release dates were available but stay tuned for more information.

  • Motorola Moto X coming to Malaysia late April 2014

Motorola Moto X coming to Malaysia late April 2014

The Motorola Moto X could soon be joining the Motorola Moto G here in Malaysia as local retailers have indicated that the smartphone could be on sale by the end of April 2014. Other local retailers have also revealed a pre-order price of RM1399, which is certainly tempting for a smartphone that is always listening to you. While the pricing may be a bit off from the overseas $299 (RM956) off contract price we're hoping that it at least comes with Moto Maker or some form of customization to make up for the price increase (hopefully wooden backplates). Tech specs for the Moto X remain the same and include:

    • 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU (Motorola X8 Mobile Computing system)
    • Adreno 320 quad-core GPU
    • 2GB RAM
    • 16GB / 32GB storage
    • 4.7-inch RGB AMOLED screen (720 x 1280 pixels, 316 ppi)
    • 10MP rear camera (ClearPixel, LED Flash) + 2MP front camera
    • 130g
    • 2200 mAh
    • Supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 LE + EDR, WiFi a/g/b/n/ac
  • Motorola Moto G Forte is official, but is only shock-resistant

Motorola Moto G Forte is official, but is only shock-resistant

The Motorola Moto G Forte has been officially announced at Motorola Mexico. Unfortunately, it isn't the more rugged, waterproof and dustproof Moto G we were hoping for. Instead, it is just a standard Moto G that comes with a Motorola Grip Shell casing. The Grip Shell casing is a rubberized casing which offers a bit more protection for shock, but won't stop water or dust from damaging your Moto G (and your screen will still crack if it falls the wrong way). As expected, tech specs remain the same with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 4.5-inch display but the Motorola Moto G Forte looks to be just for the Latin America market for now.

  • Rumours: Rugged Motorola Moto G Forte coming?

Rumours: Rugged Motorola Moto G Forte coming?

While the Motorola Moto G certainly broke a number of records with it's great value tech specs and pricing, rumours are spreading that we could soon see another Moto G coming soon. Going by the name of the Motorola Moto G Forte, the smartphone will likely retain the same tech specs but offer a more rugged and waterproof device. The source comes from @evleaks which means that this could be a fairly accurate but do take it with a pinch of salt. Motorola have made waterproof phones before so they should have some experience with it.

Rumours: Motorola Moto X may be coming to Malaysia soon

Motorola's Moto G may well stir the midrange pot a good bit with it's cut-throat price and Google enhanced features but rumours are swirling that the Moto X may soon go international just like it's little brother. This comes after the Moto Maker is finally no longer exclusive to AT&T and therefore no longer made just for the US market. Comments made by Motorola's various senior executives have indicated that we could soon see the Moto X appear in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Asia and Malaysia could soon follow suit. So far, the Moto X is currently being offered at a very tempting $299 (RM956) off contract. Specific Malaysia release dates are still not available though, but we're guessing it could arrive a bit later in 2014, possibly in Q3 to Q4 of 2014. Hopefully the price tag remains the same (or doesn't go higher).
