  • World's most popular Windows Phone refresh is here, Nokia Lumia 525 officially announced

World's most popular Windows Phone refresh is here, Nokia Lumia 525 officially announced

The world's most popular Windows Phone was originally the Nokia Lumia 520 because it combined good features with an exceptionally low price. Now, the refresh for this smartphone is finally here in the form of the Nokia Lumia 525. Looking exactly like the Lumia 520, the Lumia 525 bears nearly the same tech specs as well which includes a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 4-inch IPS display, 8GB storage and 5MP rear camera. The only difference seems to be that the Lumia 525 comes with 1GB of RAM compared to the 512MB of RAM inside the Lumia 520. Malaysia release dates and pricing are still unknown but Singapore will get the Lumia 525 on 14 December 2013 at SGD249 (RM641) so we can expect a similar pricing and release date for Malaysia. Hopefully the pricing won't be as high as Singaporre or else the Lumia 525 may lose it's competitive advantage. Check out the Nokia site for more information. In the meantime, check out the Nokia Lumia 525 video in this article.

  • Nokia Lumia 525 coming to Malaysia soon, already certified in China

Nokia Lumia 525 coming to Malaysia soon, already certified in China

The Nokia Lumia 520 remains one of the most popular smartphones due to it's fairly low price and good tech specs and features. It seems though that it's replacement, the Nokia Lumia 525 is coming soon to Malaysia, having just been certified by TENAA of China. The certification doesn't reveal too much in terms of tech specs or features but it does mention that it will have 1GB of RAM instead of the 512MB currently available in the Lumia 520. The certification goes on further to state that it is a music oriented smartphone, so we could perhaps expect some better audio capabilities such as a better speaker or a Beats like audio filter. According to industry sources the Nokia Lumia 525 should get it's official announcement by the end of December 2013 so we can expect it to have a Malaysia release date sometime around or after next month. The smartphone should be available in black, orange, yellow and white. Unfortunately, there wasn't any pricing details just yet.

  • Nokia Rolls Out Plan B with Asha 501 smartphone and platform

Nokia Rolls Out Plan B with Asha 501 smartphone and platform

It is no secret that Nokia wants to be the top phone maker again, but so far, its attempts at doing so through its Windows Phone Lumia line have been a bit too high-end to gain enough momentum. Realizing this, Nokia have therefore released (yesterday) a touchscreen feature phone in the form of the Nokia Asha 501 complete with its own OS and Apps platform. Built upon the Smarterphone platform, the Asha 501 is not using Symbian, Windows Phone or even Android, but still offers app support for stuff like Facebook, Twitter and even games from Electronic Arts and Gameloft. In short, this is Nokia's plan B while their Plan A Lumia Windows Phone rounds up their two pronged attack to regain the world's phone market share. Due to the Asha 501's USD$99 price point it aptly covers the lower end of the market. When it was released recently in India the Nokia Asha 501 was planned just for areas outside of the US like South East Asia and so forth.
