After shutting down their non-Windows Phone based entry-level smartphones, Microsoft has just announced the Nokia Lumia 530 and Lumia 530 Dual SIM smartphones for the entry-level market. The Nokia Lumia 530 offers tech specs that include a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage with up to 128GB microSD support, a 4-inch screen with 480 x 854 pixel resolution, a 5MP rear camera and a 1430 mAh battery. The smartphones will be packing Windows Phone 8.1 right out of the box and support 3G with the Dual SIM version offering the same specs except for an extra SIM slot. We're not sure if it is taking over from the Lumia 525, because honestly speaking, quite a few of it's tech specs are lower-end compared to the Lumia 525. While there are no specific Malaysia release dates or pricing yet, the Nokia Lumia 530 smartphones are expected to arrive in August 2014 at around $114 (RM361). The Nokia XL is the bigger brother in the range of Nokia X smartphones designed to bring the Windows Phone experience to the masses through an Android smartphone. As such, it features a simplified interface and Nokia's tough Lumia polycarbonate design that should make it great for everyone to use. The main question here is, does it deliver for you? One of the accessories supposedly due for release back during the initial teasing period for the Nokia World Dubai event was the Nokia Guru Bluetooth headset. Apparently, the cyan blue coloured acessory may be called the BH-121 Touch with added NFC functionality. The BH-121 Touch features the ability to connect to your Lumia smartphone and stream music via Bluetooth to the attached earplugs. The NFC function will let you pair the device with just a Touch while the volume rocker will let you control the volume without having to pull out your paired Lumia. According to reports, the BH-121 Touch will arrive in mid December 2013 along with the Nokia Lumia 525. While there aren't any specific Malaysia release dates or pricing, we should see it soon afterwards.

The world's most popular Windows Phone was originally the Nokia Lumia 520 because it combined good features with an exceptionally low price. Now, the refresh for this smartphone is finally here in the form of the Nokia Lumia 525. Looking exactly like the Lumia 520, the Lumia 525 bears nearly the same tech specs as well which includes a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 4-inch IPS display, 8GB storage and 5MP rear camera. The only difference seems to be that the Lumia 525 comes with 1GB of RAM compared to the 512MB of RAM inside the Lumia 520. Malaysia release dates and pricing are still unknown but Singapore will get the Lumia 525 on 14 December 2013 at SGD249 (RM641) so we can expect a similar pricing and release date for Malaysia. Hopefully the pricing won't be as high as Singaporre or else the Lumia 525 may lose it's competitive advantage. Check out the Nokia site for more information. The Nokia Lumia 520 remains one of the most popular smartphones due to it's fairly low price and good tech specs and features. It seems though that it's replacement, the Nokia Lumia 525 is coming soon to Malaysia, having just been certified by TENAA of China. The certification doesn't reveal too much in terms of tech specs or features but it does mention that it will have 1GB of RAM instead of the 512MB currently available in the Lumia 520. The certification goes on further to state that it is a music oriented smartphone, so we could perhaps expect some better audio capabilities such as a better speaker or a Beats like audio filter. According to industry sources the Nokia Lumia 525 should get it's official announcement by the end of December 2013 so we can expect it to have a Malaysia release date sometime around or after next month. The smartphone should be available in black, orange, yellow and white. Unfortunately, there wasn't any pricing details just yet.
